@videogamesarenotart: "objectively" better

people always use that phrase when they want to argue something irrationally

it is not "objectively" better. Its a point of fact that the xcom remake was not up to the standards of the aforementioned games

@videogamesarenotart: So glad you made an account just to say that complete nonsense.

Try to look at the Day 4 recap and say it doesn't look exactly like someone popped in a DVD and pressed the play button.

I just made an account just to comment on this;

First, i think a lot of them wouldn't have even considered walking dead for GOTY if it weren't for VGA/community outpouring. Its not even a game, its a movie with the illusion of choice. None of your choices matter. At all.

It has no gameplay at all. That alone should make it not eligible for GOTY.

During the day four recap, they basically appeared to be rewinding a movie and pressing the play button.

The other comment I have is about Xcom winning. Out of all the games this year, they pick that game? Its just a bad choice.

The new Xcom game featured bad AI, a cutscene after every shot that could not be disabled, a cutscene after every enemy being discovered. The AI of the enemies would not move at all until they were discovered, they would just sit huddled in the center of a building until the cutscene played. The last mission was nothing but a linear dungeon that was slapped together poorly with a systematic process of throwing enemies at you in a regimented process.

How could you say Xcom was a better game than any of the other games out this year? It clearly wasn't.

Sleeping Dogs, Syndicate, Farcry 3, and Mass Effect 3 were all better games than Xcom.

They all had better gameplay, story, presentation, graphics, amount of content, and more replayability.

There is nothing at all that is remarkable about the new Xcom and isn't that what this award is for?
