I'm not familiar with how Apple handles product launches, since I've never bought one of their products. Don't they only sell through one outlet initially?

I had the same thought though. If you want one and have the money to throw down then you should be able to order one from somewhere. Even if you don't know how long until you get it. That might be better than having to spend a whole day refreshing a dozen or so websites because it's unclear when or if they'll put them up for sale. If these consoles aren't going to be sold in physical stores for a while then the online infrastructures need to be a lot better.

I'd be curious if anyone looks into the resale market this cycle versus the past, definitely seems like it would easier for scalpers to get their hands on a higher percentage of the output is literally all units are sold online. I'm sure you saw if you were checking amazon but resellers had them on there from $1500-$2500.

Been trying all day in Canada to get a digital PS5. I was starting to think I might be out of luck but now I may have accidentally bought 2 from EB Games.

Several places didn't seem to end up putting that version up for sale. If they did, they likely had traffic issues making it nearly impossible to actually get through to check out. Then when you did, turns out they'd been sold out since roughly the minute they went on sale.

EB Games though, their website was so badly messed up that I don't think literally anyone could get an order through for hours. I ended up at the last step of the checkout process, hitting confirm over and over while it kept telling me they couldn't complete the order at this time. Eventually, it actually worked! Digital edition and an extra controller (they force the bundle on you...). I got a confirmation email about 10 minutes later. Then I got a second one with a different order number 5 minutes after that.

The thing is though, their process was so screwed up, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up canceling both of them. I've been hearing Walmart and Best Buy have both been doing that throughout the day.

So here I sit, the proud owner of anywhere from 0 to 2 PS5s.

No for a few reasons.

There are the ones everyone had been saying: Openworld games in general, and Ubisoft's take in particular, have been tired for at least one entire console generation. I think these kinds of games are boring.

More importantly, even if Watch Dogs Legion was legitimately the best game ever made, I'm at a point now where no game is worth supporting bad people/companies. I'm honestly not sure what it would take for me to ever feel ok buying or playing a Ubisoft game ever again.

Dammit, CDPR I just want a video game storefront and developer who aren't evil, even if it's just one of each. Why is this so hard. I'm going back to pogs!

It's hard to find a big AAA studio that doesn't fall into some of these vices. Unfortunately they all seem to suffer from bad leadership that leads to crunch or worse.

And I'll just chime in to say that at least Projekt RED doesn't seem to be a misogynist boy's club that Riot, Rockstar, Ubisoft and Rooster Teeth are, or as cold and calculating and EA and Activision and chalk up their development cycles to "Geralt Magic" or whatever.

...Again, famous last words before CDPR's Ryan Haywood makes the news.

They definitely seem to have some other issues.

So I picked up my run I had going when I posted earlier and ran into Thanatos almost right away haha.

Just beat Hades for the first time after unlocking the +40% damage to enemies inflicted with two curses. Used the spear with the exploding launcher special. Dash had weak, special had knockback+rapture. Spammed myself all the way out of hell. I walked into the Hades fight with full health and 4 uses of death defiance.

@magnetphonics: So I saw all that stuff before beating Hades. Most if not all of it before seeing Hades. I definitely am not confused about it being late-game content.

@efesell: The weird part is he hasn't shown up in the Codex for me. Technically I haven't had the chance to "talk" to him yet so maybe that's why.

@zelyre: One of the most interesting things about it is that while challenging, it never feels punishing, and despite dying over and over to the same boss, you won't feel like you're banging you're head against a wall. It's all the best things about roguelikes without any of the inherent frustration.

I have a habit of clenching my jaw and holding tension in my shoulders leading to migraines. As such, I have to be really careful about how long I play certain kinds of games. Hades is a rare game where the action is intense but I also find it relaxing to play.

I know the two games are made by the same people so the comparison is natural, but they are wildly different things. It feels to me like asking "I hate Assassin's Creed, will I like Halo?" There's just no way to know based on that. I haven't played Bastion since it came out originally but that feels like a much better point of comparison in terms of gameplay.

All I can tell you is if you like roguelikes/lites at all, Hades is up there with the best I've ever played. If you hate those kinds of games, you probably won't like Hades.
