Looks like this is most likely related to an update for the Tricaster (our video switcher). Looking more into it, but might be a little bit until a solution (hot fix for the update or I roll back to a previous version) goes live. Thanks for all the data.

For a variety of reasons things can be mastered at varying levels. Sometimes videos don't go through a post process to get them up faster, or something funny may have happened with a hardware compressor (gameplay acted oddly, somebody was screaming, etc). Our videos tend to run long so sometimes blanket normalization or compressors over the whole thing can misbehave. We try our best to master to around the same levels though and I'll check and see if that's still happening. You did say PLEASE. Thanks for the input.

Also, this all reminds me of this:

Folks tend to make things very loud on the internet...

Just a quick update. There should be a fix for the Roku coming soon, possibly this week. It is being actively worked on. I personally don't know much about how the devices choose which version of the videos to serve up, but our top men are on it. After the Roku app is looked at they are going to try and pin the 720p version in the API for other devices or apps that we don't have control over until folks can get in there themselves and do their thing.

Thanks for the patience!

Sorry, I was never able to track down exactly what is causing this. Each coast currently has similar setups and profiles for the site streams, so it's odd that you wouldn't get it on the West coast streams.

That all being said, we have a new piece of streaming gear ordered for here and hopefully should arrive and be implented soon. We'll have to see if that problem still persists after that. If it does, I might just need to get you guys on a chat or something and have you watch a test stream while I adjust settings!

Same problem with this week's video. @vinny

Hmm, I'll take a look and see if I can track down where this is happening in the chain. Unfortunately, I hardly ever see the actual stream so this is helpful.

We're Back!

Ok, you all know the drill. Post any game you'd recommend we check out below. Posting the game name in its own line makes things easier to read and count when we're looking over the posts.

Thanks!

Hello! Welcome back to fun town!

We'll be playing a new game on our next live (and free) Choose Our Own Adventure, so here's your chance to get your suggestions in. Mostly looking for games we haven't played or that we've missed. Maybe stuff we would never have heard of, but you think we should play. Also, the game should be fairly easy to commercially purchase and run on currently available hardware.

Please make the first line of your post just the name of the game for ease of tallying. Feel free to do more text under that.

Also, we're looking to do a new game very show, so don't be sad if we leave ya hanging on the narrative at the end of the day. It's possible we will continue it somewhere else, but we make no promises.

Thanks,

Vinny and the fun-time gang.

I really want to see you guys finish LiS - graduating it to Playdate might be a good idea.

Also, this sounds like a good idea:

Hey @vinny, is the intention to make Choose Our Own Adventure a democratic thing for the foreseeable future? The alternative is that you treat it more like improv, where we (the audience) throw out a bunch of suggestions, but you, Alex, and Austin ultimately pick the suggestion you like the most instead of it being mob rule. If you do it purely by votes, my only concern is that you're going to inevitably get roped into a Playdate for both Life Is Strange and Phantasmagoria 2, given the current leanings of the community. If you guys get the final say, you can at least steer things away from nonstop narrative-focused games where the community will have an expectation that you see the whole story through.

We'll use our discretion when picking the games, but I still want to play Phantasmagoria 2...

Hey y'all!

We'll live streaming again this Wednesday, and while we'll most likely be finishing up Episode 2 of Life is Strange and maybe get into some of Episode 3 after that we've been thinking of making the show a 1-shot for games. I originally envisioned it as a place to try out a bunch of stuff we're either missing out on or haven't had time to check out but getting locked into one game defeats that purpose.

We may continue Life is Strange in a Playdate. That is a premium piece of content, so I don't want folks to feel like it's a bait-and-switch. Let me know what you guys think below, but that's the direction we're leaning right now. I like the idea of constantly testing games out in one feature, and if folks and we are interested in pursuing them further, do it in another feature for us and those people and leave the testing ground for people to recommend new games.
