I'd like to thing there is something within the depths of the ocean since not a whole lot as mapped out. The one that interests me the most was called Bloop, it was a odd sound picked up be a submarine that no machine or known animal could recreate. There have been few cases of people hearing a "bloop"-like sound deep within the Ocean and if you check to coordinates of each one they all seem to triangulate around the coordinates Lovecraft had originally stated R'yleth is supposed to be. It's rather interesting.

Yes, that is really interesting to think about. There is still so much about our oceans we don't know about; there are limitless possibilities of the things that could be down in their depths. The idea of ruins, Atlantis -- or not, is highly alluring and so is the idea of what we could learn from something like that. Even without the mythic approach, the new species of creatures are entertaining enough. It doesn't hurt to think about the Lovecraftian approach either. :)

I haven't read anything about the potential next iteration, but a mixture of Dead Space and John Carpenters The Thing sounds excellent.

I second that! Especially since John Carpenter's the Thing was such a huge inspiration for the games to begin with, they could really be in their element with that sort of setting. Isolation, survival, extreme weather. Exciting possibilities. I can imagine the death scenes of Isaac in Winterland now.

@Claude: Haven't gotten a chance to play but about 15 minutes of that game, tbh. I keep thinking back to an old Ju-on review and how terrible the noises apparently were.

And, to be honest with you, I never played anything on the Wii that sold me on motion controls. There was always something strange or iffy with it, it never really worked right.

I feel ridiculous most of the time half-heartedly swinging the remote in Twilight Princess, which is why I prefer the Gamecube version. Haven't tried Skyward Sword yet so I'm not sure if it's improved. Regardless, I hate the little speaker in the remote and the awful midi-noises that come out. Ugh.

Another thing is that my launch day Wii hasn't broken. My Xbox 360 broke twice on me after I bought it in 2008.

I know the pain of that. The Wii is pretty solid.

@Jay444111: I remember back wayyyy in the day when there was a trailer on the Spirits Within dvd and the narrator said it as "Teedus", which I distinctly remember cringing at. I prefer "Tye-dus" as the proper pronunciation.

I personally find most of the dialogue in that game (FFX) endearing. You get an auditory tour of one young man's personal growth over a pretty intense storyline.

@Hailinel: Jay444111 hit the nail on the head with my feelings on that scene so I don't really care about the inevitable posting of it anyway.

Agreed.

Sometimes I think people want Nintendo to get out of the hardware business just because they want to play Nintendo games on their hardware of choice.

Oddly enough, that's exactly what I want.

Well, get over yourself. Throw some moon dust on Nintendo headquarters and see what happens. While you're at it, throw some on Valve so we can play Episode 3.

Episode 3 :(. That's all I can say.

Nintendo is the geek who always trys to do the right thing and yet every one hates him.

Unfortunately, that's true. Nintendo has the potential for really great games, and have had them in the past. On their own systems. That's just the way it is. Sure, who wouldn't like to play Zelda or something like that on a console they play more of. Not gonna happen.

Oh, it makes me excited all over again just looking at it.

@Redbullet685: That was one of the ones I was thinking about. Some of the best covers are the ones that are foreign or weren't used. I also like clean, streamlined covers; covers that really convey the heart of the game.

Left 4 Dead series, Resident Evil remake, Dead Island, Plants vs Zombies. For DLC? Borderlands' Zombie Island had some quirky zombies that were fun to kill in co-op. Also the Red Dead Redemption DLC Undead Nightmare: fantastic storyline and awesome quests.

Oooh this is tricky -- namely because I forget ...erhm, names. That and there's so many influential and important people out there. Hmm, I'm going to go with some childhood favs Hironobu Sakaguchi, HIdeo Kojima and Nobuo Uematsu. Hmm. On the FF kick, I feel the need to add Amano, just for his amazing concept artwork over the years.

Well you're going to have an interesting time, indeed. Some of my best memories come from the early FF entries. Good luck and be sure to update your journey!
