Damnit. It's going to be a while until I have the time to sink into this game. But all this talk about the ending makes it really difficult to resist the temptation to just look it up on YouTube to see what all the hype is about.

I honestly don't think I have ever met a girl who has any interest in video games.  Where do you people meet them?

For those who have been in a reasonably serious relationship, how has playing video games affected you?  I have only had several relationships that I would consider "serious", but they have all been significantly negatively impacted by my love for video games in that my girlfriends have thought that I spend too much time gaming.  This also applies to most of the short relationships that I have had.  What about you?

I think that Super Mario Bros. 3 is one of the most improved sequels ever.

I apologize if this question has already been asked elsewhere (in which case perhaps someone could point me to it), but what are your most disappointing games of 2010?  Keep in mind that a game can be good and still disappoint.  For instance, my top 3 for this year are Metroid: Other M (I hate what they did to Samus), Final Fantasy XIII (the second Final Fantasy game I have disliked, after FFXII), and Epic Mickey (a major failure all around).

Donkey Kong Country Returns also had an excellent soundtrack, although I'm disappointed that there weren't more original tracks.  Here my two favorites (one original and one rework):

Super Meat Boy had my favorite soundtrack of this year.  Some of my favorites follow:

I agree with FalseDeity, this is definitely a soundtrack worth purchasing.  They even let you name your own price.

What a year 2010 was...

Best of 2010

Vlodd: Best of 2010

1. Mass Effect 2

There is a reason for which choosing Mass Effect 2 for Game of the Year is cliche: everything about it is outstanding. Between this and Dragon Age: Origins, Bioware has this generation of RPGs locked down.

2. Super Meat Boy

Take everything about the music and gameplay in Donkey Kong Country Returns and multiply it by 1.5, then add some of the funniest humor I have ever seen in a video game and you will have Super Meat Boy.

3. Donkey Kong Country Returns

An amazing soundtrack, beautiful visuals, ingenious (and sometimes malicious) level design, and a tremendous sense of nostalgia propel this game into my top 3. Retro Studios can do no wrong, and I cannot wait to see what they create next.

4. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

A huge portion of this game entails doing the same things repeatedly, but it somehow remains so much fun that Assassin's Creed is quickly becoming one of my favorite series.

5. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty

The only RTS game that I had played since the days of Warcraft II and the original Starcraft was Warcarft III until this game was released. I don't game online, but the campaign was the most enjoyable and creative that I have experienced from a game in this genre. The worst thing about this game is how difficult it will make waiting for Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void.

6. Super Mario Galaxy 2

The level design and colorful visuals in this game kept me entertained for the entire time that it took me to collect all 240 stars.

7. Limbo

The only way to get an accurate idea of the amazing atmosphere that this game creates is to play it.

8. God of War III

God of War III is another game that did little in the way of innovation. But the visuals were enough to keep me enjoying the sometimes-repetitive action.

9. Darksiders

Darksiders may not be original, but it's still incredibly enjoyable. The ending alone is enough to earn it a spot on my list, and I cannot wait for the sequel.

10. Pac-Man Championship Edition DX

I've never been crazy about Pac-Man, but this game is too addicting to leave off of this list.

@Skywarpgold: I completely agree with you.  It would be great to see some of the gameplay improvements.
