Awesome to see bleahy contributing to GB. I've missed his stuff since he left Shack. The improvements to SC2 sound like just the kind of thing to get me back into playing this game.

Gotta say, this looks pretty amazing. And yes, certainly does appear to be based on the core design structure of Portal. That's not a fault though.

Making a great video game should not be like finding the perfect porridge for Goldilocks...

Are the sales really "sluggish" though? The numbers Patrick reported of the DS launch period vs 3DS launch period really sealed the deal for me -- Nintendo overreacted, and so has the general press. There's only a 1m unit discrepancy between the two platforms in their first 4 months of life. That's negligible when you consider the economic climate and as Patrick noted, the lack of a holiday period in that window.

The hardware and pricing isn't the problem here. The perception that the 3DS is failing is due to lackluster software releases.

They didn't pay $750m for Pop Cap. They paid $750m to get to Jeff Green.

Jeff..... RUN.

Based on the demo that I played, "fixed" controls aren't going to sway my wallet. I think Jeff said it best in the Bombcast this week, it plays like "a bad third-person action game," not a traditional action-RPG with an expansive world. But maybe the game opens up later on.

If it's on sale, I might try it.

David Ellis looks a lot like Luke Smith in this photo. Which is pretty weird, considering that Luke Smith is an old 1upper who moved on to Bungie, and Ellis is an old 1upper who moved on to work at 343.
