Shrink Wrap Bonanza - To Do List 2012

In the spirit of not being consumed entirely by the guilt of having too many games, I've created this list. It is comprised of games that I've bought in the new year or already own. If they are on this list, they all fall under one qualifying criteria, they have barely left the case in which I bought them, if at all. Whether that be general laziness or procrastination doesn't really matter, they will be played.

List items

  • As of writing I'm playing this at the moment, so hopefully its inclusion is a little premature and I see this through. I was attracted by the art style and the narrative elements. Its transpired that those are exactly what are keeping me playing this, its solid it its gameplay but its longer than expected and gets a little repitive after a while. COMPLETED

  • I've been wanting to play this for some time, and I've owned it for a good part of last year. Now that I have the achievement monkey off my back I'm excited to get this underway. Platinum Studios means it needs to be played. COMPLETED

  • This had my name written all over it, but unfortunately the price didn't agree with me. Being a brief experience by all accounts I wasn't prepared to take the plunge on release, although I wanted to support the game. It seems to have held its price forever too, the magical £10 mark has finally been breached. COMPLETED

  • Among Thieves was good and all, but it never felt quite like the game changer that others would have me believe. Still, they are very good games and I enjoy my time with them. Hearing people sound weirdly down on this has contributed to my lack of urgency in getting round to this. But this sounds like the indifference that usually leads to a great surprise, here's hoping. COMPLETED

  • I played enough to know that the English accents are weird, call me a snob but whatever. The mechanics seem good but the size of the game was intimidating at the time. I feel guilty about this one, especially as there are so many who would have loved to have had this as early as I did.

  • Never played it and have been looking to broaden my knowledge on the series. More of a morbid curiosity than anything else, I've really heard too many favorable comments about it. I'm not looking forward to the demon negotiations, no sir.

  • I made a conscious decision to make better use of my PSP now that the VITA is almost ready to gallop over the hill. I needed a pick up and play game as my PSP collection is made of almost entirely of RPG's at the moment. I don't usually give much attention to puzzle games in any form, so I'm hoping it lives up to its reputation.

  • Its cheap enough now that I was going to get it irregardless of the fact I own no form of motion sensor for either console. Genki Rockets on the soundtrack and visual craziness has my money.

  • I'm curious to see if the fixed frame rate will give SOTC a fighting chance in displacing ICO as my favorite of the two. I remember playing this on the PS2 and giving it such a rough time, I just couldn't overlook the flaws. Consider this a clean slate.

  • DJ fatigue meant I shelved this game as soon as it arrived at my doorstep. The first was surprisingly great so more of the same is welcome. Too bad that Daft Punk don't make a return, its already got some catching up to do!

  • I remember liking the original Acid, even if many seemed to dismiss it due to its spin-off status. This sequel looked equally interesting, the added 3D (before it was in vogue) seemed like a cool gimmick. I sadly never got chance to play it, getting rid of my PSP prior to its release. Being a significant gap in my MGS knowledge, I still wanted to give this a shot. Its long been out of print though, and even more difficult to find with the 3D-viewer still intact. Luckily someone over on Neogaf did me a solid, and I now own both the game and an untouched pair of glasses.
