I have put about $1200 total into the boardgame Kingdom Death: Monster over the course of two separate Kickstarter campaigns now.

While it is an extremely good game, I need help.

Wasn't this the series of games where the characters were anime girl versions of consoles and gaming hardware?

I'm not really seeing that at play in this trailer?

@alistercat This is a really cool and kind thing you're doing. Thank you.
I'd like to take Frozen Synapse, please, if it's still available.
I've been meaning to try this game out for some time but have been short on money for a while now. Thank you!

Happy birthday!

GB East is absolutely killing it. With Waypoint and GB East I am more than inundated with good, fun, critical games media.

GB West is up and down for me. I love Ben Pack and his enthusiasm but find that when the West crew has to sit down and talk they all get bogged down by repeating the same few points over and over. They lack the energy and playfulness to really have dumb fun but also don't really have the depth of knowledge on game design, dynamics & development to give insightful criticism, I find.

Vinny and Austin (ex bomber, but still).

Games interested in systemic narratives, immersive worlds and unnecessary details.
Also big robots.

I don't skip it. It leads to some fun banter and is adorable to boot.

I'd suggest Undertale.

Witty and clever writing that's both funny and heartwrenching; simple, satisfying gameplay and a minimalistic artstyle. Also quite cheap.

It's a case by case basis. If the game requires finishing for a reviewer to have a credible opinion (example: Gone Home) then definitely.

If the game itself isn't interested in it's own narrative build up, and finally, ending (example: Destiny 1) then no.

Good on Campo Santo for taking a stand on this. Think what you will about the use of DMCA. I personally think it's the right thing to do anything possible to distance your own brand from that kind of behaviour and disincentivize it in the future. These things should have consequences.

This game is an exercise in subversion of JRPG tropes. The more familiar you are with these tropes the more effective the subversion.

I love JRPG's and love love love this game. Have him give it a shot, I bet he'd like it.
