Best of 2010

 Winsord: Best of 2010

List items

  • The addition of the ability to use real instruments really increased the fun for me in this game. I love rhythm games, and I love Rock band, so this was an obvious choice for me.

  • Though not well received by most, the simulation driving aspect of this game is phenomenal. Visuals and such are ultimately unimportant to me; it comes down to the gameplay. Being a car fanatic and a racing sim fan almost gave Rock Band 3 a run for it's money.

  • Although I haven't actually played this game all too much just yet, I already love it. The only reason I haven't played it that much is because I have Gran Turismo 5 to play currently, and I'm never able to manage playing a sim racing game and an arcade racing game at the same time.

  • Definitely the biggest surprise for me of this year. I really didn't care at all about this game in the months before it's release, but once it came out and I saw what it was, I had to have it. Finished it within a week, and loved every moment.

  • Finished this in only a couple of days. I was so engrossed in the story, and being able to directly make decisions was a neat feeling for gaming. Although I might not every play through it a second time, it was well worth the purchase.

  • This game really surprised me. I rented it for the March break, thinking I probably wouldn't get to into it, but I was wrong. I knew I didn't like Devil May Cry very much, but this was able to differentiate itself quite substantially. Definitely a gem, and great surprise for me.

  • For me, this game kind of came and passed. I played through the story pretty quickly and had a lot of fun, and played a decent amount of online, and had a lot of fun. It really was only 2-3 weeks though before I had returned to playing Modern Warfare 2; the Halo series' online has never really been able to sink it's hooks into me. Co-oping through the entire campaign in a couple of days with my brother though was some of the most fun I've had gaming.

  • I never really got into this game that much. Well, at least I thought I didn't. Evidently I enjoyed this quite a bit, judging by the amount of time I put into it. I remember being much happier playing on the hardcore servers than normal, and even though I don't remember liking it that much, I know I did. It definitely deserves recognition on this list.

  • Although I've played a fair amount of this game, I don't think it's that great. I still play it, and I still have fun, but I definitely think Modern Warfare 2 was a better game. I realise that's somewhat controversial to say, but I thought the MW2 controls were a lot tighter, the story was more fun, and I preferred having people die in 1-2 shots rather than the 3-4 it takes to kill in Black Ops. Overall still a fun game though, especially with additions like bots.

  • I realise I'll probably be the only one with this game on my list, but that's alright. There's a lot of bad things in this game, but it made for one of my best rentals. Played through the story in a couple of days, but really enjoyed every moment of it. It's not a great game by any stretch of the imagination, but it was enough fun that I feel it warrants some recognition on my list.

I completely forgot about the The 40th Day. I do plan on picking that up someday since my friend and I had a blast playing through the first one co-op despite all of its short-comings.

@zAMERICANLIONz: Yeah, it's really good as just a rental or a budget buy. It's really addicting whilst playing through it with a friend, and it's pretty satisfying to beat it. I never got a chance to try out the "horde' mode since you had to wait until thirty days after release (unless you pre-ordered), but I imagine that could be fun for a little bit. I'd be willing to bet the online is completely dead at this point however, so it's good that you have someone to bro-op with.
