@rapid: Yeah, by that time I'd already messed with them enough to know they really don't do much unless you really get in their face. The smaller things are more annoying (but also easily avoided). Still made for an interesting experience when it happens like RIGHT beside you. :)

Liking the new zone, but now after playing the snot out of it since its release I'm kinda bouncing off of it a bit.

@winterblink: It depends on what you are expecting. I run a clan for over three years now. I've seen people come and go and I can tell you that the most disappointed people just wanted something different from the game or expected something else.

If you're looking for Borderlands from Bungie, this isn't it. If you're looking for World of Warcraft: The Space Shooter, this isn't it.

Loot is a feature, but the amount of it is not comparable to something like Borderlands. Their original philosophy here was to reward people who kept playing their missions in Halo in a minor way with some loot. It's not a constant loot pinata, nor does it have crazy midget-shooting-guns. Everything is very minor in the grand scheme of things, but minor changes affect things a lot.

You're never overpowered. It's not an RPG. In its essence it is a challenging cooperative shooter. That's all it really is, except it peppers it with little cool things like loot.

If you're expecting an RPG, you won't like it. If you're expecting insane loot, you won't like it. If you're expecting endless grind you won't like it. If you're expecting to play it alone, you won't like it.

I love the game, though not unreservedly, but I also know what it is and like what it is trying to be.

I've played a pile of Warframe over the years to tide myself over on the sci-fi shooter genre while waiting for this, but I totally get that it's not going to be a 1:1 experience with Destiny. I don't mind a co-op loot grind, I'm going to give it a go solo for a while and hope that more friends of mine pick it up on the PC side (alternately will join an active clan).

I did try the PC open beta, and while I get that was a hair-thin vertical slice of what to expect it was intriguing enough for me to drop cash on a preorder. I do appreciate the insights.

For the first time ever, I was minding my own business when the Eidolon spawned in the water right next to me. Obviously I've seen one before and whatnot, but there's that brief moment of pants-shitting when you realize you're in the middle of something and also at ground zero of that thing waking up for the night.

D2 will be my first Destiny game and reading this so close to the PC release I intend to experience it with is a bit disappointing. I'm hoping that experience will be decent for me given I'm not coming to this game with significant baggage (for lack of a better term, no disrespect intended) from the first.

This was seriously one of the best movies I've seen in years, and easily on my top all time films. It didn't deserve this kind of box office reception. Then again the original didn't do well, and there's a lot of factors working against this one's interest in theaters... still, it hurts.

You know, I think a lot of the blame for this comes from the movie theaters. I know they are struggling as well but I think it's a key element. I'll briefly recap my theater experience for Blade Runner:

Christ.

You're not alone in this kind of thing, the theater experience can definitely be an iffy one these days. We've solved the problem by going to VIP theaters that are available in our region -- basically serving seat-side food and alcohol, thus no minors. It's a small additional cost but that's usually enough to ensure the people going there are going to be focused on the movie and not going to annoy others.

@quantris: Former mods and the active GAF discord have already been discussing their options. Just give it a week of two. Those guys don't want to lose what GAF was. Most of it users don't either. One guy that needs to be erased from all consciousness isn't going to break GAF.

It would suck to lose the community that's been built up for years. People think it's a cesspool there like it's 4chan's /b board with a different URL or something, and that shows a complete lack of understanding. Burning down the site would be like demolishing a suburb because someone that lived there was found out to guilty of sexual harassment/assault.

That's just my 2c worth anyway.

Hey Matt, not sure if you already picked something up, saw this topic late. I have a Black Widow Ultimate Stealth Edition, it's got the solid mechanical feel without being TOO clicky, and the key sounds are only a bit louder than a normal keyboard. Been one of the best keyboards I've used, so I can't recommend it enough.

Run full scans with malwarebytes and Windows Defender. Both together are seriously awesome. Since you keep getting reinfected, consider checking your registry for anything unusual firing off in Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. That way you can be sure the next time you restart your PC and log back in you're not screwing yourself over by accident.

Personally, I prefer having the flexibility of a PC to upgrade later. The PS4 looks pretty sweet, don't get me wrong. But there's nothing like being able to slap in a bit more RAM or a better video card a few years down the line.
