I have yet to support a single Kickstarter project. However, I did purchase FTL after it was released. There was an Earthbound-style game on Kickstarter a while back that I thought about backing, but I feel weird pre-ordering/backing something that is still at concept stage.

I wish them all the best - this industry could always use another voice/viewpoint. (But I agree with everyone about the design, particularly on their reviews pages. Woof.)

I wonder if they'll be able to keep up with the "bump" thing they're going for. Sure, expansions, patches, and DLC change how games are perceived overtime, but I wonder if they are chasing the wrong dragon by keeping up with multiple games in this way. To me at least, added content is a more binary "Buy It" or "Don't."

I'm not sure I want to live in a future where the standard for games is that they are censored by their publishers/distributors. I got chills reading that Windows 8 article.

With some of the enemies in this game evading constantly (particularly those shield surveyors), I am all about classes that home in with their action skills.

There is an interesting comment on that link to the EA post about NBA Live 13:

As a former engineer on the Live series, I'm sorry for the dev team, I'm sure you guys worked tirelessly on this.

Management - Stop trying to be 2K and stop destroying and rebuilding the engine. Live 10 was a good game (80 metacritic) and it doesn't make sense that the game has been broken for 3 years since.

Also, I just had a thought: EA Sports games generally do not have a lot of competition. I can't think of a single recent sports game not done by them (besides NBA Baller Beats and Pro Evolution Soccer). Are they really that scared of 2K? There's certainly room for more than one basketball game on the market.

The other day, I saw the Art of Mass Effect coffee table book and thought about buying it, but then I realized I really only thoroughly enjoyed Mass Effect 2....the other games are good, but not great. Good that Mass Effect is coming to more people so they can judge for themselves (kinda soon for a compilation disc, no?), but I wonder what a "worldwide celebration" entails? Contests? Mulitplayer bonuses on ME3?

Look, I love my PS3. I love digital distribution and the fact that I can get new titles for cheaper than MSRP. PS+ sounds wonderful for free games. However, I fail to see where this makes sense as part of a Premium Membership - it should be a standard feature available to everyone who owns a PS3 to encourage digital sales (Steam, for instance, does not have a Steam Gold or Steam + and has sales all the time, sometimes day and date with retail release). Microsoft does this sales thing, Sony now does it, and Nintendo is about to do it with WiiU....it made sense when this generation started, but I feel like it doesn't anymore. And besides, I can wait the 2 weeks or however long it takes for a retail disc to drop in price. By Black Friday, I predict some of these titles will be down to half price by some retailers.

Hooray for Steam Version! Now to just wait for Dust to come out on Steam...

XBLA is going from something that was awesome to something that is now just a preview for Steam. It's like the Best Buy-Amazon relationship (except that Best Buy was never awesome).
