You can tell 'spec work' is bullshit because the name is ambiguous. It's easy to assume spec is short for specifications which sounds far better than speculative work.

its a jrpg, rush the story and you'll probably be underlevelled, take your time and you'll be overlevelled.

as more stuff opens up there's plenty of challenge out there, ive had a few tainted monster boss fights go 10+ minutes, and i am progressing the story only when absolutely necessary

i am fiercely in favour of more politics, people paying more attention to what is going on with the world, finding their voice. i don't support any politician, i support ideas and support discussing those ideas, and politicians being judged on implementing them. i am astounded to get the replies that i did, accusing me of being partisan (the second description obviously applies to a lot of people across the political spectrum - take a look at yourself if you think that was attacking you), that apathy is the only true smart person solution, but hey, takes all sorts.

i'd love to hear more about how pretending politics just doesn't happen is the way towards fixing it.

complaining about politics in your entertainment is down one of to two things:

you are ignorant of the world of politics and disengage as soon as you hear anything involving politics. in this case you are ignorant of life and need to learn that politics is part of life and begin to engage. there is zero excuse for being ignorant of politics once you reach a double digit age.

other one is that you feel attacked because of your personal politics, and rather than understand why the people who you respect feel this way, and either disagree and go on with your life, or question your choices and grow as a person, you entrench yourself and refuse to engage, use words like 'divisive, sanctimonious, and frequently hypocritical' and fall back on the 'keep politics out of my ___', which is just an attempt to silence people for disagreeing with you, which guess what, is a political stance.

i feel for americans, because you have a pair of fucking awful political parties in complete thrall to capitalism (the uk was much the same for 30 years). it's a long time to go without noticing that things are wrong, and it's hard to come to terms with when fundamental proofs that things are wrong rear their head.

@leonshade: don't worry about it too much, you're trying to find logic in peoples cognitive dissonance. the people who say 'keep politics out of my ____' are trying to untangle life from politics, something which is obviously impossible.
