The real issue is how this problem gets swept under the rug. Theres a reason that a rise of youtube gamers such as totalbiscuit and angry joe have taken off, they don't bs around these problems and speak frankly about them. The old media is more of a boys club, and that's understandable. It's the nature of business and one hand washes the other. If I were working in the industry I wouldn't speak nearly as harshly about these problems either, if you want to have a standing in the industry and access to what you need to do your job and survive. It's not worth rocking the boat, that doesn't mean we aren't sinking or "screwed", it just means that functioning another day can mean tolerating bad practices you may otherwise raise hell over.
