I'm bored with my music. HELP!

Ok so I primarily listen to rap and hip-hop. ALL sorts. And I am terribly bored with everything on my iTunes. I need advice on new stuff to listen to!

Some of my favorite albums of all time are Kanye's first two (College Dropout and Late Registration), De La Sol's 3 Feet High and Rising, EPMD's Strictly Business, Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt, and Nas's Illmatic. I also love individual songs from all sorts of artists: from the greats to the lesser-knowns. Tupac, Biggie, Ice Cube, Mos Def, Method Man, Lupe Fiasco, Wiz Khalifa, N.Y.C., Lil Wayne, Brand Nubian, Boogie Down Productions, etc., etc.

As you probably can see, I primarily listen to more mainstream rap, simply because I don't know of many underground artists. However, if you feel I missed some mainstream artist I would love to know!

PLEASE HELP ME!!! (and thanks to all of those who do!)

Sorry, mainstream rap is probably my least listened to genre apart from country. Maybe try finding some rap or hip-hop from the 80s, like Run DMC, Public Enemy, or maybe some early 90s like Biggie Smalls or Snoop.

@Woodtsunami:
Try starting to a completely different genre.  Try getting the soundtracks to the GTA games, as weird as that sounds.  They always have a mix of different genres, and I've learned I like different types of music from them.

So far as rap is concerned, do you know about Kanye's GOOD Fridays? If not, read my blog, links in there.

That song is awesome. Its not that I have anything against lesser known artists, its just I honestly don't know of many and I need a little guiding to find some good ones :)

I don't see Redman on your list and Doc's Da Name is one of the best hip-hop albums of all time in my opinion.

The Streets' A Grand Don't Come for Free is something different, just make sure you listen to it as an album, from the first track to the last as it has a running story.

I've recently been listening to a lot of ODB's debut Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version, still like nothing else out there.

You're missing nothing. That is the greatest song ever.

Did you not like Kanye's 808s and Heartbreak? Check out Kid cudi. And get more into 2Pac. Check out the greatest hits cd's from him :)

Also some Immortal Technique Revolutionary Volume 1 and 2. 2 is far superior but 1 has a few memorable tracks.

check his EP 'Str8 Killa' and his mixtapes (i recommend 'midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik'). amazing flow and lyrics.

also check out the latest Curren$y record - 'Pilot Talk' . I think it barely sold 11k copies and that's a complete shame.

oh and yeah. download tracks from Kanye's GOOD Fridays thing.

edit: also check out 'Beam Me Up Scotty'. It's a mixtape by Nicki Minaj. Pretty cool stuff.

skip to 02:20.
and listen to her verse on MONSTER by Kanye and Jay. She's pretty amazing there.

J.Cole - The Warm Up (Should be free, mix tape)
The Roots
Shawn Chrystopher
BlacRoc

Remember Del the Funky Homosapien from that Skate 2 video?

@Woodtsunami: I recommend you start using Last.fm as much as you can. Once you've listened to a bunch of stuff it can start giving you some worthwhile recommendations.

Kinda surprised you didn't mention Kid Cudi, considering who else you named. Ratatat would be another big one; they're more electro-rock stuff, but you'll probably like them since half their songs are hip hop remixes anyway.

I'm not really into hip-hop, I'm more into Jazz and electronic music, but I have a few suggestions. You tell me if it gives me cred or not, I have no idea :D

The Grouch & Eligh - Say G & E!
You can listen to samples of all songs here:
http://www.amazon.com/Say-G-Grouch-Eligh/dp/B001T46U9Q or listen to the whole album on Spotify (if you can get it): The Grouch & Eligh – Say G&E!

Ultramagnetic MC's - Critial Beatdown
Classic Hip-hop, if you listen careful you can hear where Prodigy got all their classic samples from :)
http://www.amazon.com/Critical-Beatdown-Ultramagnetic-Mcs/dp/B000167STY or listen to it on Spotify: Ultramagnetic MC's – Critical Beatdown

Random song:

Moderat - Beatswaysick Feat. Busdriver:

or Spotify:  Moderat – Beatswaysick - Feat. Busdriver

Damn, I wish everyone could use Spotify, everything would be so much easier then :D

They aren't hip-hop, but Twin Shadow and TV On The Radio are some pretty good spin-offs.
