What I Played this Week

This week I played a variety of games, haha just kidding I played Torchlight 2 and Darksiders 2. Torchlight 2 took well, two days to beat, I think I got roughly 20 hours of gameplay. I honestly had a lot of fun with Torchlight even though it is kind of an arrow simulator. What I mean by that is the loot, if the arrow is green and pointing upwards my brain is hit by a large amount of dopamine. If the arrows are down however, I sell it to the shop and once I've cleared my inventory, more dopamine. I played the game on the normal difficulty and it wasn't too tough, click a lot and mash my potion key while sometimes feeding my pet fish to see what it turns into.

I'm still currently going through Darksiders 2 and tell you what, I've encountered a variety of bugs. I almost had to restart my game due to an important peice of a puzzle being stuck in a wall texture. I've had my strong attack automatically go off without my pushing of the button, making me restart the game. I've accidently wall ran onto a peice of land where I shouldn't be able to get to and was un-escapable. I think you got the point. The combat is pretty mashy, click fast, dodge faster and go down the physical damage tree for it is the only one that really matters. The puzzles are fun and they try to keep it original by introducing new abilities to your character, who I've got to say does look like a baller mother fucker.

Next week I will probably try to finish Darksiders 2 after MOTHER FUCKING DISHONORED! Totally bought the game and pre-loaded it on Steam today and can not WAIT to get my teeth into it. Also I have school next week so I probably won't be able to play as much as I'd like, oh well... I might try to go through FTL more, still haven't beaten that Capital Flagship and I've in fact only gotten to it once. Aside from that I don't really know, I don't think I can spend more cash to buy Xcom but god dammit I want to spend more cash to buy Xcom. I might go to a haunted house with friends which will be great because I'm so bad with scary things I had nightmares from that shitty Kinect game, Rise of Nightmares.

My Thoughts on Looper

Over the week I was able to catch a certain movie called Looper. I had heard high praise of said film over the Twitter-verse and was generally excited to catch it was a few of my friends. I also learned a valuable lesson, it is physically impossible for me to stuff an entire Soft Taco from Taco Bell into my mouth. Anyway, after purchasing my ticket and being falsely accused of being older than 18, I was in my seat and ready for some sweet time travel action. I didn't really know the full premise of the movie, but had heard a few snippets from the internets.

This movie had my absolute favorite actor/man crush, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I'm saying this with the straightest (in all terms) face I can, that dude is hella attractive. Also Bruce Willis was in it, which was nice but if Joseph ever ends up looking like Bruce Willis when he gets older, I'm ending my life. The movie had a pretty strong premise, backed up by some superb acting and story. The movie had a good character progression, and even made me care for someone who was supposed to be a simple background character. The action scenes were... unsightly at some points, it was mostly just gunfire and escape scenes. I quite enjoyed the future the movie concocted, a pre-apocolypse city full of crime and generaly depressing people.

At the end of the movie, I felt pretty good about what I saw. On the drive home however, I really thought about the story and the time travel and how that interacted with the characters, and realized that there were a slew of plot holes. This however comes with almost any time travel movie and shouldn't be pondered upon but as a man who micro-analyzes pretty much every movie, it drove me up the fucking wall. Time travel is a super intresting concept but it can really wreak havoc on a movie's storyline, only if you notice it. So I pretty much ruined Looper for myself, good job me. Looper however is a totally sick movie that everyone should watch. I give it four Soft Tacos out of five Soft Tacos.

Woah, a Blog

I have started a blog! I don't wear a scarf, nor do I sit in a Starbucks for six hours chatting about underground music, NOR do I wear extremely tight fitting jeans... okay, I totally wear tight fitting jeans. Anyway, I don't really know how to blog, so I'm just going to update this mother hubber three times a week just to keep my writing skills up to scuff. I'll probably just write about video games, though I have been known to ramble. If anything intresting comes up, I might just write about it here!

I guess my first topic today is this strange problem I have with being serious about competitive video games. I played a lot of TF2, and I wanted to really get into the competitive scene. I applied for teams, I practiced daily, I got my friends into it, I was damn serious about it. Then one day, I simply didn't want to play it anymore. It's not like there was a lead up to it, my intrest hadn't been waning over the past month, it literally took me one night to be tired of it. This is happening again, over the past seven months I've spent over a thousand hours in Dota 2, loving it, practicing it, playing it seriously. Then bam, today I just don't want to play it anymore.

I don't really know what causes this, I've tried not to overstress playing a game. I've taken breaks from Dota 2 for the very purpose of not over-exhausting myself on it. And here I am, blogging instead of practicing the game I once wanted to go pro in. This doesn't only happen for video games. I quit my Tennis team because hey, I just didn't want to do it anymore. I stopped boxing because hey! I didn't to do it anymore... If anyone else has this problem, maybe we can form some kind of self-help group because it kind of sucks to get really invested into something, and then lose all intrest in it over one nights rest.
