I have no idea what any of that is about. I told Jeff shortly before he left GameSpot that I was thinking of moving onto something else. Him getting fired just proved the catalyst for getting me to move forward on that. I can refute this story by saying that Jeff has never, ever bought me coffee in the history of time. Why is it that the only time people won't accept someone's opinion is when it's about a member of the crew?
I have no strong feelings about Alex one way or the other, but you guys are insisting that those that do have problems with him are wrong. Some of them have even given reasons. Just because you don't agree with those reasons, doesn't mean they're wrong to have an opinion. Not everyone likes everyone.
I get that you're trying to spare his feelings or something, but a.) he's heard the criticism and made reference to it before, and b.) he's a big boy and I'm sure he can handle it.
Stop trying to convince people their opinion on a person is wrong. There are plenty of people in my life that I don't like, and sometimes it does come down to the person's voice, or their sense of humor, or that they don't fit in with my group of friends but try desperately to (not that I think these things of Alex, just that I've seen them mentioned in this thread). In the end, a lot of the reasons we dislike other people or find someone annoying tend to be pretty shallow.
I think Jar Jar was a shitty addition to the Star Wars cast. Now everyone jump in and tell me I'm a moron for my opinion, and that my reasons aren't good enough, and that I only don't like him because I don't "know where he came from" and "hate change". Do that for 6 pages. It'll be a blast.
I understand the argument that it's mean and hurtful to post this shit on a site where he'll probably see it, but this is the internet, and most internet people have to deal with shitty criticisms. Telling them their reasons are stupid is only going to make the thread grow. You can say that you like him and why, but fighting someone's opinion is inevitably a lost cause.
My only problem is that he never stops saying "That thing is a thing." Or, "That's a thing that happened." If he never says the word "thing" again, I'll die happy. Other than that, i don't mind him.
@Akeldama: To be fair that's just something they arbitrarily decided 10 years ago... they did have a GTA: London 1969. I still think that would be awesome, and it's not like Europe doesn't have tons of easily identifiable stereotypes to exploit.
@Gap: I'm one of the people that had a lot of problems with DA2, but this is fucking ridiculous. If you haven't played the game now that it's out, you can't bitch about it with stuff that you've heard. Be a big boy and shut the fuck up until you've played it and formed your own opinion, or decide that it's not something you want to try and get over it, you whiny brat.
