Don't get me wrong, I'm not really an achievement whore. I just wan't developers to put a little more effort in how they reward players for doing cool stuff in their games. Currently achievements are the most widely accepted form of this.
It really bothers me when a high profile game like Mass Effect 2 comes out and has no support for achievements. There is no excuse, Steamworks is FREE! EA seems to be the biggest jerk when it comes to this. Dead Space 2 was just released and anything "special" in the console versions just isn't there.
When Mass Effect 2 was about to come out, I had assumed that it would be like Dragon Age and Bioware had set-up their own achievement system, boy was I wrong.
It isn't just EA games either. From the looks of it The Witcher 2 also does not have achievements. What the hell is this? CD Projekt RED, you have the perfect game for achievements. Also of which I have no idea why Stalker: Call of Pripyat doesn't have any achievements either.
I personally have purposefully not bought some PC games because there are no achievements. For instance, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and Two Worlds 2 come to mind.
I don't understand how major publishers have increased their PC games to $60 and don't give the same value as consoles get, even though there are NO royalty fees for PC development.
