Had a quick look and sorry if I missed it, but no one seems to have mentioned soma yet. A few of the crew have mentioned needing to catch up with it and I think that if a few of them do then it could be in with a real shot. Galack Z is another possibility, I know Austin loves it and it could just squeeze in.

MGS V and Mario Maker, absolute locks. I feel almost the same about undertale, rocket league and splatoon at this point.

Fallout 4 could be too buggy but also seems pretty strong, bloodborne is a possibility, I'd love to see cities skylines but it's hard to tell how much it will be remembered by the end of the year.

I think downwell, grow home and you must build a boat might show up in some other categories, but I don't think they'll gain much traction for goty discussions.

I sincerely hope her story, life is strange or until dawn make it, for story based games the writing is average to extremely poor and there are better examples in smaller games this year (fragile soft machines, cibele, the magic circle, three fourths home, the right side of town, else.heartbreak()).

I'd love to see flywrench but doubt it will get there.

Cradle and Axiom Verge are liked by a couple of the giantbomb crew but I'm unsure if there'll be enough overall support, still a chance though.

Seems like the Witcher 3's hopes dwindle more and more as time passes.

That's how I see the state of things at the moment, I don't like speculating too much on what hasn't come out yet so no thoughts yet on Just Cause 3

@dragon_puncher: all of this is solid. Hopefully cities: skylines gets enough recognition but I doubt it will make it. Forgot about mario puzzle and dragons, could factor in a couple of categories but I doubt it makes top 10, Crypt of the Necrodancer and Duck Game were well liked but I doubt they made enough of a splash and I would be very disappointed if life is strange made it (the storytelling is so bad for a game that has little else). I think your top tier is likely, barring just cause 3 which although highly anticipated is not out and not yet able to be judged by the giant bomb crew.

@whopper1631: Lara Croft Go is a good addition, That and Pacman are possibilities but I think both will fall short. (I think lara croft is a great game and would be deserving I just don't think it will get enough overall support to make the top 10)

I was more going for games actually released so far rather than future games people expect to be popular amongst giantbomb. But Bloodborne (much to my chagrin), I feel is a possibility. I don't feel destiny is a contender as it's an expansion and expansions, in the past have not rated too well, Until Dawn and Contradiction;they were fun for video features but I don't feel like they can get to far as games on their own (too much camp/shlock on the story front to rate considering they are primarily story forward games). Kerbal, Ori and MKX had too many problems according to the giantbomb crew to make it to top 10 (especially as I feel kerbal was underwhelming compared to beta expectations, mkx was not as good as mk9 specifically and ori started strong but was met with lacklustre response as more people played it.). I also hope her story doesn't make it. It's a neat idea but the twist and many of the story elements are so cliche that it doesn't deserve any of the hype it gets.

Hey bombduders. I know for some it might be a bit early but what games do you expect to either make the giant bomb top 10, or have some serious discussion in multiple categories for the GOTY podcasts?

Here are mine:

MGS V: The Phantom Pain, everyone is gushing about it at the moment and it seems like it will stay the distance to the end of the year.

The Witcher 3: Thoughts on this have been mostly positive with a few reservations, I expect it to make the list but probably not be a major player for the top slot unless there is a big swell of playing and adoration over the next couple of months.

Mario Maker: absolutely the hot item at the moment, a shoo in for top 10 right now but we might have to see how the game continues to evolve to be sure.

Splatoon: Everyone seemed pretty high on it, I've played a bit and its pretty great, it's pretty original in the shooter space, I expect it will make the 10.

Rocket League: Everyone seemed to have a pretty torrid affair with this for a short time, should appear in any multiplayer categories and I assume it will make the top 10. There might be a few extenuating circumstances that might knock it down but it should still rate.

Cities: Skylines: An incredibly made city sim might be forgotten or not thought well enough of amongst other heavy hitters, but at the moment it seems .like a pretty strong contender for me.

Galak-Z: Alongside Cities: Skylines I think that this may have enough support but may also not stack up enough amongst the competition, it does seem to be well thought of though. Also notably a favourite of Austin's.

You Must Build a Boat: An incredibly strong ios game that may appear in a couple of categories, maybe even strong enough to make the 10. Kind of hard to gage overall appreciation amongst the giantbomb crew.

The Cradle: a favourite of Vinny's but may have a hard time standing up to other titles. Having played it I can see the appeal but find it a hard one to fight for.

The Magic Circle: Jeff seemed to be way into it but it hasn't had a lot of coverage so I don't really know it's popularity amongst the staff.

Flywrench: Austin loves it, previous love for nidhogg was high and it's a great game, I would love to see it on the list but don't expect it to make much traction

Axiom Verge: Another Jeff favourite from earlier in the year, a well made game that I expect to get some discussion, but expect it not to make the list, primarily for being too similar to the games it draws inspiration from.

N++: Dan seemed to be way into this, but it's had little discussion and I don't expect it to get too far.

Grow Home: A game that giantbomb has unanimous positivity towards but doesn't feel like it does enough to be significant enough to make the top 10.

These are my thoughts, does anyone else have some predictions as to what games might rate highly amongst the crew as a whole or amongst individual members that I may not have thought of.

@goonage: that was one of my smaller quibbles but it still seems out of place and was more just another example of the game beating you over the head with foreshadowing, the mirrors, the fairy tales, the song, all these things that filtered through and feature heavily in police investigation footage and that just happen to also have thematic ties to the nature of the plot twist and the crime. It was all just too convenient and overly written.

I think people are reading too much into it. Both situations are pretty implausible and as people on both sides have pointed out there are problems with both theories. I would call these plot holes inherent to both this type of story and the way in which it is delivered. I enjoyed the construction of the game but found the story to be very underwhelming. The big twist was telegraphed way too obviously and it actually got in the way of enjoying the game, even moment to moment. I felt like I was searching based on what I know of these narratives and not by thinking like a detective. There were so many reflection and mirror references along with all the fairy tale references I managed to find the twist by ignoring things like associate names and events and stumbled upon the twist within 20 min of starting by looking at it from a writers perspective instead. A couple of other things like her song which revealed too much and was completely tonally off (do we really expect that police would have a woman sing on guitar as part of the interview). Add to this the idea that maybe the story was meant to be open ended and I feel like its kind of a waste of time to try to work out by deduction and reason whether twins or multiple personalities is the "right" answer. Overall I did enjoy my time with the game, but it is just a shame that the story that was told was far too cliche and ridiculous.

There is a bunch of stuff missing, and not just the really obscure stuff. Super Time Force isn't there

Anyway my Stuff.

Eidolon. Survival/Exploration game that feels like Proteus, but with a little more direct storytelling and with light survival mechanics.

Hadean Lands: A Sci Fi text adventure that feels like you are playing a tabletop rpg with the most insane/brilliant gm ever, on pc and ios. Anyone who has mentioned 80 Days here should check this one out, it will blow your mind.

Super Time Force: Nothing much to say, love the mechanics, love the weird emergent puzzle solving that the mechanics inadvertently create. I even don't mind the dumb humour. One of my favourites of the year.

Mount Your Friends: Its great every time they play it on the show and even better in person, perhaps the best "let's have some beers and play multiplayer games" game of all time.

The Sailor's Dream: From Simogo, the people that brought you Year Walk and Device 6, another unique game that plays with presentation in interesting ways and is best to just jump in cold and experience it without context,

I don't really play that many racing games (usually one every 3-4 years) but I think this is awesome. Such a great example of what the gaming community can be. Keep it up duders, hope you enjoy your race night for many years more.
