on the ps3 i had to deal with a stupid setting called "RGB Full Range (HDMI)", which is the option to have colors either washed out, like how they would look on component wires i guess, or have them be full of color and look equal in color to the xbox 360
if u have this setting on, you see vivid colors, and if you set this option off, all your colors look washed out as hell
on my EXTREMELY GOOD monitor, samsung s27b550, which was $500 last year, when i turned this option to ON, i got the vivid colors, but for some reason, my contrast ratio looked like TOTAL shit and i was forced to have this extremely limited contrast ratio that blinded me anywhere that was semi-dark
apparently, my monitor, even tho its super good with perfection in contrast ratio that was record-breaking for samsung and has some of the most beautiful colors that i can remember on a monitor, was NOT COMPATIBLE with the ps3 to have this option on
so i had to deal with having that option always OFF, which made games seem like they had even worse graphics
so what im asking is, does the ps4 have this same option that can possibly fuck me over? im wanting to buy a ps4 for obvious reasons, but if i see that shit again, im switching to xbox one
im always PC gaming on this monitor on the same HDMI wire and its plugged into the same place in the back of the monitor, apparently it looks like the ps4 also has this option, which seems to be extremely ridiculous, so can anybody help me understand wtf is going on?
apparently its called "crushed blacks"
