I was let down by how simple the puzzles were but really enjoyed everything else. If you enjoyed the "oh shit" moment in at the end of Braid more than spending hours mulling over a tricky puzzle, I'd say give this a shot.

I also do not agree with people who say this has no story. Sometimes an attack dog isn't an attack dog. If you go through that last part and don't have any idea what the last image means, I would suggest just thinking on your journey a bit.

@pantheus:

Immediately after completing the game, I came away with ideas about stillbirth similar to yours. After thinking about the scientists tricking you at the end with the hanging box, my theory changed to it being a metaphor for disease/cancer.

I was at a friend's birthday party at the Brooklyn location of Barcade (Union St) and saw they have Windjammers in their NeoGeo cabinet! Finally got in a few rounds and thought it's way harder to play than it looks. I just wanted to throw this out there in case someone else has been looking to try it.

It's funny this is such a big deal when women in the middle east aren't even allowed to show their faces outside the home. Maybe some of this energy should be put into fighting for their rights?

There are places where kids have to work 10 hours a day for a few bowls of rice, maybe some energy should be put into fighting for their rights? Oh wait no, there are places where people die because of hunger, all energy should be put into that. Do you see how dumb that argument is?

Wouldn't it be fun to go through and append every comment with its specific logical fallacy? I'm going Strawman for this one because you can't fight BOTH world hunger and sexism at the same time.

@fartGOD666: Hahahah, sorry, but your handle is working against you. I thought for sure you were joking until I read it and then swung the other way.

I also really wanted to post my verse from The Book of Gaming.

Meanwhile red-blooded men get their God-given men's rights stripped from them as feminazi-run game shows banish the iconic Booth Babe from the American landscape. Strange days...

@fartGOD666: Testify, fartGOD666! Relay unto the masses the plight of the mature yet underprivileged red-blooded male.

As for Booth Babes, "God-given"? You must be reading an interesting bible. "Thou shalt head to the E of threes and be stared at blankly by a human statue seeking to appease her money lenders." And iconic? Something can be iconic and still be gross.

I am jealous that Patrick will most likely get to play Eternal Darkness before I do. Really want to play that game, even though I'm not a big horror guy.

I played it like 2 years ago and honestly didn't think all that much of it. It's a decent enough action/adventure game with a sanity gimmick that is worn out the second you get the "restore sanity" spell. Obviously, I was playing it 9 years after the fact, but it's one of those games that I don't entirely understand the praise for.

I completely agree. It's one of those games I wish I had played on a higher difficulty to truly experience what they had to offer. If you are remotely good at the Resident Evil style gameplay, you won't see many of the sanity effects at all.

I would compare it to the combat in Alan Wake and Dead Space. If you're not continually looking behind you in a state of terror over what you might find, you need to bump up the difficulty to get the full experience.

Edit: I played it in 2006.

In almost every review I've seen about this game, the ending is getting a lot of praise and has piqued my interest. Can somebody who has beaten the game give a synopsis of it?

There's no way I'm going to plow through 40 hours of a game for the last hour, and I'm hoping the ending reveal isn't something along the lines of, "Now that you've beaten the Dragon, you BECOME the Dragon! To save the world and stuff! And the pawns are all the previous people who've killed it! You know, like Final Fantasy X and stuff!"

You basically go OJ on God, become God, and then figure being God kind of sucks, so you commit seppuku and your Pawn is all like "NO! MASTER DON'T LEAVE ME!" and you fall through the sky and your Pawn wakes up in your body.

Fucking Capcom.

Thanks! Do you continue playing as your newly transgendered character in a post ending dungeon? And if I ever do play this game, I'll name my female pawn Hedwig in anticipation for that last scene.
