@Emilio: Im not sure what it is as since I posted this I have put in a fair few hours on CODBLOPS and Goldeneye with no phantom inputs at all. Weird indeed..
Does anyone here know where I could find some pictures of 360 disks with Ring Burn, or have some experience to share to help me work out what is going on ?
I took a recently purchased, unwrapped and HD installed on Wednesday game from its box to put it back in in the 360 to play today and noticed a very very fine hairline full circular mark on the disk. Ive checked all my other recant game purchases that have been installed and out of the 6 disks only this one and prehaps one other have any marks of a cicular patten at all. I am pretty worried about this due to having to use my Slim vertically recently for various reasons however the console is on a very solid table and I don't go near or touch/nudge the 360 if there is a disk spinning, and Ive made sure there is no disk in the drive before moving it ( even when the console is powered off i still do this)
Having a strange issue with my Wii as of late in that when its left idle on the Channel screen for a period of time it will ether move to the next channel page(or pages if left long enugh) or bring up the Home menu on its own. Doesn't seem to exhibit any such phantom behaviour when actually playing a game though. I have tested with the Wiimote completely dead (removed battery's) for about 30 minutes and nothing weird happened. So whatever is going on it seems to be at random times when the Wiimote is on.
Have a bit of concern that can be easily addressed by some compare/contrast. Have noticed the framerate compleatly stop for a second or so a few times in the Nightclub. Have watched some Youtube videos that seem to show this is just the game and hence not a crappy disk but could do with more reasurance.
Hitches happen when I get down to the lowest level of nightclub (4:48 - 4:52 in the video below though it tends to vary depending on route taken once down there for me) and also during the shooting and fall though window (This is also shown in this video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnakRx0Dk9c
" First: The noise is mostly vibration from the system and not from the fans (which were the big noise maker in previous models). Just install your games and it should be generally much much quieter than the older models. Second: Weird wireless problem. You could try posting on the Xbox.com forums about it. There's a fair amount of people there that may have had the same issue. An alternative though could be to just turn off your wireless security and then make your SSID hidden. That way random people won't be able to find your connection so you are a bit safer. Sure, it's pretty easy to find hidden SSIDs, but most people will never know how to do that. Just an idea. "
Haven't put a disk in the drive yet, been to busy trying to work out the wireless stuff so my noise perception so far is from the point of view of being at the dashboard for about 10 minutes at a time for over an hour. Dont get me wrong id certaintly say it was quieter/less offensive its just not very whisper like at all (for my whisper quiet cooling reference see Yate Loon/Scythe fans on the PC side of things) As to the notwork stuff I will try the hiding SSID and going unsecured approach as i didn't think of that one. Thanks..
Picked up a Halo:Reach LE Slim today as an upgrade to my Pro. It looks and feels so much better then my old Pro, however I am a little disappointed with the noise, it is indeed quieter/less offensive in tone then my 3 year old pro but not as shockingly so as id expected. Saying this I have not yet had a chance to really put it thought its paces yet tho which is a bit of concern, at the moment its just been running it idle at dashboard etc while i sort out my wireless headaches(more on this below) I am hoping it keeps a very similar noise level/character when its been running for a while under load for few hours, if it does that then it will be a good enough improvement over the Pro
Now to the other reason for posting -
I Can only get both my old 360 and the new Slim to connect to router if I force the 360 to "redo" the WEP password by disconnecting and reconnecting the router/network from the wireless settings panel once system is powered up. It just will not connect to the wireless network from a fresh power up at all, however once it is up I can often get it to connect by reinputing the WEP password. Router is a Netgear DGN2000.
After a bit more study I think ive found out what the problem is. FUII seems to set the actual sensitivity based on the slider rather then just camera speed/acceleration and it seems the dead zone is set rather tight as well and this combines to make the camera very twitchy indeed. Would like some people to test with the slider at full sensitivity on as many controllers as they have access to and see what happens. Also PS3 version owners to if they happen to read this..
How odd, like i said ive tried two controllers, my main controller since Halo: ODST launch which is the controller from the limited edition of that game and a old backup wired controller as well. I do have another spare Wireless normal controller here some ware to.. ill try that to i guess. Not sure what Im ment to do if this is not a known issue in the wider world but happens to me with multiple controllers however. It interferes a fair bit with game play.
Anyone here noticing that the camera has a bit of a mind of its own especially with up down movements tending to veer off to left or right ? Its so bad at full sensitivity that it rarely ever goes straight up or down and yes I have checked with multiple pads as well.. same thing happens. Turning down sensitivity helps but still its a bit annoying..
