My Scariest Games Countdown

In descending order. . .

List items

  • The only thing this game has over Amnesia is: I can still play Amnesia.

  • Still going through this one, but, even so, I dread every step, I'm afraid of every room, and my heart races at every monsterous encounter. I might legitimately have a heart attack because of this game.

  • The first 10 minutes of the game had me wondering why I even thought it would be a good idea to buy this game in the first place.

  • The night after I started playing this game, I couldn't close my eyes without picturing the ghost of Kirie in my head. . . needless to say, I didn't sleep well that night.

  • My first Resident Evil experience and also my most memorable, I chose my ATM pin number based on a combination to a safe in the police station, a number I still use to this day.

  • The first survival horror game I ever played, Alone in the Dark 3 kicked off a life long obsession with scaring the crap out of myself.

  • Though the visceral, Hong-Kong style action ruins any and all tension in every scene it ravages, every encounter with Alma had me questioning my willingness to cotinue playing.

  • I didn't think much of this game at first glance because of its semi-cartoonish art style, but the sanity effects and disturbing scenes quickly changed my mind.

  • I had to fight to get my parents to let me buy this game when I first got my Gamecube. Well worth the effort.

  • I remember playing the demo before I bought this game and having nightmares because of it.

  • More creepy than scary, Undying's beastly foes were stressing enough for me to know I didn't want them anywhere near me.
