@XII_Sniper: I feel the same way, but that Angry Birds theme took me by surprise. As did the Mario theme. By now I thought I'd heard just about every way that could be done, but it was a pleasant arrangement. Almost holiday-like.
I just got done listening to it, and it's fantastic. Yes, there are some omissions (no Shadow of the Colossus or Mega Man, to name a couple), but what's there is extremely well done. Even Angry Birds. Seriously, the Angry Birds theme is on there, and it's shockingly good.
Go buy it! Support them and who knows, maybe we'll get more!
When did the Giant Bomb audience get such a stick up its butt about news/journalism? I love Alex's writing, always have, all the way back to the Gamespot days. He injects personality and humor in everything he writes without slipping into that vague fake snarkyness so many new games writers try for.
This is Giant freaking Bomb, by the way. As Jeff said once, it's about the byline here, not about bland flavorless news, reviews and previews. I'm a former journalist, used to report on businesses and corporations all day. That kind of stale AP Style writing is the last thing I want out of my video game news. I longed to be able to write with such flair when I was a reporter. This is a site about VIDEO GAMES people. They are fun, reading about them should be too. You can have news with loose breezy writing filled with hilarious jokes like this, it's okay. Those of you wishing for stricter journalism standards from this game site (or any other for that matter) need to loosen up.
On topic: J-Lo should star in the next Transformers movie. Maybe then they'll just implode and stop bothering our eyes.
If the industry changed the price of games to $35, I would buy way more games. Every now and then Amazon sells a brand new game at that price and I snatch it up immediately. It's affordable for a guy like me with bills, a family and other responsibilities. At $35 I would be willing to buy more and rent less, I'd also be willing to take a chance on games that I probably wouldn't have purchased.
As for Heavy Rain, I played the first six hours through Gamefly. I got one of the black screen error discs and sent it back. The next one was the same. The game just DID NOT work with my PS3. When I went online to find a possible fix, I stumbled into a forum that spoiled the story. The ending was stupid. I sent the game back.
I know most fans want Fillion, but I'd love to see Bradley Cooper as Drake. He kind of sounds like him, and I think he could pull off the charming adventurer. It might be nice to see him cast as something other than a douchebag too.
Either way, I'm glad this director is out. I'm not one to nerd rage over things, but he was taking the series in a pretty weird direction.
Half the fun of that game (on TV) is watching too-large people try to smash themselves through a hold on a physical wall. Not sure it'd be as hilarious with a virtual wall, but it'd still be entertaining to pull out at parties.
Excellent post Patrick. This is the kind of news video game media doesn't have enough of. People call themselves game journalists, but rarely practice journalism to this degree. Most post rumors, offer a bit of their own speculation and then say something like "we'll keep you updated", which usually means they'll wait till someone else does the work and try to be the first to post it. Here you've got sources, interviews with people outside of the game industry, and excellent, actually useful information. Thanks for making Giant Bomb even better.
On topic, I've been watching my online account activity since the breach happened and I suggest everyone else do the same. I already favor my 360 for multiplayer games, but I'll do so even more now. My PS3 has officially been relegated to Blu-Ray player and Uncharted machine.
