Space exploration adventure mystery 0

How does one describe a game like Outer Wilds? Take a modern space exploration survival game, mix it with one part Mario Galaxy and one part Marjora's Mask, and baste with a healthy coat of Cyan (Myst/Obduction), and you will have Outer Wilds.Just in case somebody didn't already spoil the main thread of the game, I'll just say something happens that causes you to repeat a short period of time over and over again in a solar system occupied by your humble species and once by a past civilization . ...

Somewhat small in scope, but a step forward in VR 0

Last March, Jason Rubin of Oculus Studios brought up Ubisoft and Eagle Flight in an interview to Road to VR (https://youtu.be/N-ds-EiR5ls?t=10m46s). He praised them them about their research into locomotion and taking risks to create a VR game with a lot of movement. He said, "This may be the foundation of locomotion working in VR... I might have, had they come to me, said 'Not sure I want to bet my dollar on that', but that was a dollar well bet".The onus has been placed in Eagle Flight and Ubi...

A tantilizing premise for people who like games about exploration, discovery, and finding needles in haystacks. 0

Mirrormoon EP is one of those games that shuns traditional gameplay tropes and manages to carve out a niche of its own in its style and execution. Ultimately, this game is about exploration. If that is important to you then stop reading here and play the game fresh and unbiased, its not that expensive to just try it out, and you will have quite a few addicting hours of exploration ahead of you. This focus on exploration is very evident from the initial start of the game as it throws you into t...

Slightly addictive, retro-styled, a game you wish would have been made in your early 90s PC gaming days. 0

Take the WASD+mouse aim controls and gameplay from a modern top-down shooter like Hotline Miami, mix that in with a sci-fi monster hunt reminiscent of DOOM, the ammo scrounging survival of Dead Space, and simulated technological limitations of a pre-DOOM era, and you have Teleglitch. This game brings back a feeling that I don't have much in videogames anymore. Most games today are are essentially easy by gracious checkpoints and unlimited lives. Teleglitche's rogue-likeness dispenses with all th...

Your personal Sci-Fi Epic of the day. 0

For any sci-fi fan, FTL fills the currently void gap (as far as I know) of commanding your own ship and crew through the unknown void of space, and making each and every FTL jump a tense and dramatic one. The game resembles closest the Battlestar Galactica series, as you are pitched with running from the Rebels that are chasing you across the galaxy. Throw on top of that the managing of familiar sci-fi-trope type of ship systems, such as in Star Trek, and the unknown dread and wonder of aimless ...

Do not play if you have epilepsy! 0

There have been several games over the course of gaming history to mix flashy visuals in a shooter environment, and in that Dyad is no different. Also, not unlike trippy shooters that have come before, Dyad goes deeper by adding a progressive play style that is constantly expanding its core elements and offers new strategies and challenges with each level. So if that is your thing you can stop reading right here, for Dyad offers this and does very well on delivering that brain-melting spectacle ...

This is the real Sonic 0

Forget anything that has come out since the mid 90's.  Except for maybe a couple competent GB titles and a DS one or two I never played, Sonic had strayed from his core 2D gameplay to confusing badly controlled 3D versions that never really captured the true Sonic feel.  Sonic 4, now released 16 years after the 3rd, follows directly in evolution of the series as if nothing has come out since, never mind the million color HD graphics.  I'd get into more detail, but it may be moot if you have neve...

Sometimes technically impressive, but has a few annoying quirks. 0

There is a lot to be said about Far Cry 2 for its technical feats.  This open world game based seemingly somewhere between the Tropic of Cancer and Equator of Africa gives an impressive realism to this environment.  Much like other open world based games there is day and night time passage and weather systems.  The terrain models of Africa vary between dry Sahara desert to lush jungle.  With wonderful lighting, a realistic sense of atmosphere, and nice touches of animation of grass and plants li...

A classic has never looked better. 0

I must admit... I always sucked at Street Fighter.  I've played these games since SF2 at the arcades and those that came out for the SNES.  Even though I've never been good at them, it still was a worthwhile for a handfull of friends to meet up in an arcade, spend an afternoon or party at a friends house, or even help waste the half hour or so at the supermarket while mom was shopping.  I've never owned the game on the SNES nor had too much money to spend at the arcade to master any moves, or ev...

Co-op is a blast for those who play well with others. 0

Resistance 2 is a game that tries to spread itself out evenly between multiplayer and single player.  It takes some risks which unevenly pay off.  Overall the game is not more than the sum of its parts, but there are some parts worth noting.Resistance 2 continues the story of Nathan Hale from Resistance: Fall of Man.  In Resistance the world of an alternate 1950s is under attack from a species known as the Chimera.  Nathan Hale, a US soldier, fought the Chimera in RFOM and as a result became inf...

Although aged, Dune II to this day can show its place in RTS history. 1

Remember when Sound Blasters were new? This had been the game to make it worth finally upgrading to that fancy 386 with the turbo button, 4 megs of RAM, and a Sound Blaster game card. That is what my best friend at the time did, and made me ever so jealous to go over to his house and watch him play Ultima VII and this game.Luckily at that time most games still had a PC speaker support option. Because Dune II still had this I was able to borrow his install disks and put it on my family's hand-me-...

Everything you expect and miss from the GTA franchise 0

This is my first review for GB but my second review on the web that I've posted for GTA4.  my first review is on Gamespot/ynfiveThis is my second time through playing GTA4.  I had followed the storyline and played this game all before.  When I first played the game I gave a two week marathon where I haven't even called my own real life friends to go hang out.  That said the game's story line is engrossing.  Now the second time through is still kindof is.  One of my original complaints of GTA4 is...
