How did you find GiantBomb.com?

We  must all have our own stories as to how we found ourselves roaming this "gaming" website. For me it was the Endurance Run (they played the game from start to finish and recorded it) of a crazy game called Deadly Premonition.  Leading up to this point my experience with gaming "journalism" had been through the traditional places (e.g. Computer Gaming World, PC Gamer, GameSpot, IGN). I always felt like an outsider with these media outlets and had no connection with the folks that were telling what to buy or not to buy.

Francis York Morgan... you can call me York.
Francis York Morgan... you can call me York.
With the Deadly Premonition Endurance Run it was the first time that I felt a connection with gaming media as I listened and watched these guys put themselves through the agony of this janky game. I bought Deadly Premonition because of their efforts and I followed the quirky developer @Swery65 for his tasty tweets and I even re-watched the crazy Twin Peaks television show just so that I could attempt to get the references to this show in the game.

I am grateful for the GiantBomb.com website and the hard work that the crew pours  into this "little" community.    It certainly was a fluke that I found my way to this site, but certainly not a surprise that I stayed.

Like a lot of others here, I was a big fan or these dudes at Gamespot. Unlike slot of others here, the first time I saw Giantbomb.com, I was reading the "Jeff Gerstmann is still alive" blog on the can, on my iPod touch.

I found it via walkthrough in the beginning of '09 using Google, then caught the first 5 of eps of the P4 ER in one sitting. At that moment I realized I got hooked.

The Bonus Round on gametrailers told me what Jeff's new site was. Watched one of those "Quick Look" things and have never left. Or went back to gametrailers.

I believe I heard about Jeff Gerstman working on a new project, and randomly decided to check it out. I checked back to the site many times over the following weeks, when it was still a true blog. Also, their podcasts were the first I'd ever really listened to. So, I stuck around, and now they have my favourite gaming site on the web, as well as my favourite podcast.

Think it was kotaku that said Gerstmann had a podcast up. (This was after "Gerstmann-gate") And I was a fan of The Hotspot, so I listened. And kept on following until Giantbomb emerged.

That first podcast was an experience, basically just Ryan phoning Jeff and they recording it.

I discovered the site after I found Wikia, randomly. I liked the look of Wikia, but I thought it wasn't well enough tied together from wiki to wiki. So, I decided to search for a games wiki, and stumbled upon Giant Bomb. I thought the interface to the site was radically different to anything I had seen before, and decided I'd sign up based on that alone. When I did so, I discovered the joys of editing the wiki. I only found the forums quite some time later, and that explains why I have such a low post count. I didn't know much about Jeff Gerstmann being sacked from GameSpot, but I remember using GameFAQs and GameSpot quite regularly in 2007 (after I got my laptop).

Yeah, I had also been following the Giant Bomb guys for years while they were at Gamespot, then briefly on JeffGerstmann.net and arrowpointingdown.com right before they started Giant Bomb. I was able to secure my first name as my screen name because I had been eagerly awaiting the site launch for months, so I registered within minutes of the site going live.  :P

One day I remembered about Jeff Gerstmann's firing from Gamespot, so I checked out his Wikipedia page to see what he was up to. I found Giant Bomb, and I fell in love almost immediately. I rarely visit Gamespot anymore. I've gone back and watched every single Quick Look, all the mailbags and other features, and both Endurance Runs. I just can't get enough Giant Bomb!

This is exactly what I did. The hotspot was the first podcast I listened to and Jeff the only journalist in this industry I really followed, so it was all a natural progression from the time of his being "let go" to his "I'm still alive"-blog and then to "how to build a bomb". It's the only website I visit that is related to this industry and it's the perfect amount of content to me. A podcast a week, a few quick looks at the games and then some reviews. No sports games or things that are uninteresting. A perfect fit for me.

I was looking for a site that could tell me how to build bombs and then I stumbled on this site with videos called: How to build a bomb. Perfect I thought. Now after who knows how long I'm still waiting for Ep. 11... Where they hopefully actually start showing how to build a bomb. In the mean time I entertain myself with the other stuff.

Not too long after Jeff and Ryan left the site someone posted in the comments of the Hotspot that they had a new podcast. So Since the second episode of The Arrow Pointing Down Podcast I have been a GBer even before the site existed. I was here for the blog days and signed up day one.

This. I was a fan of the old GameSpot and spent most of the last decade watching their video reviews back when your only option was an embedded windows media player with terrible quality and slow buffering. "

I was a long time follower of gamespot  until cnet wrongfully fired Jeff Gerstmann. I tried sticking with games pot for a few weeks after that but fell off their bandwagon once Ryan left. The site just lost it's heart. I found Giantbomb a few months later and never went back.

A few months after the Gamespot Incident, I googled Jeff Gerstmann to see what my favorite game writer from my hometown was up to and it took me to the Giant Bomb blog crawl (in the heady days before the wiki!), and I've been following it ever since.

When Gerstmann was fired I had no clue who he was at the time until I stumbled upon one of his video reviews and said "Oh yeah, that guy! Wow what a bummer, he was neat!" Sometime later I was reading his Wikipedia page for some reason and it linked to Giant Bomb. Signed up two days after the explosion.

@Gill dude don't feel bad about the low post count, It will be 2 years since I have been a member on Dec 30 and I only have like 36.
I found Giantbomb by following Jeff from Gamespot to here because I liked his thought of things.
