How did you find GiantBomb.com?

We  must all have our own stories as to how we found ourselves roaming this "gaming" website. For me it was the Endurance Run (they played the game from start to finish and recorded it) of a crazy game called Deadly Premonition.  Leading up to this point my experience with gaming "journalism" had been through the traditional places (e.g. Computer Gaming World, PC Gamer, GameSpot, IGN). I always felt like an outsider with these media outlets and had no connection with the folks that were telling what to buy or not to buy.

Francis York Morgan... you can call me York.
Francis York Morgan... you can call me York.
With the Deadly Premonition Endurance Run it was the first time that I felt a connection with gaming media as I listened and watched these guys put themselves through the agony of this janky game. I bought Deadly Premonition because of their efforts and I followed the quirky developer @Swery65 for his tasty tweets and I even re-watched the crazy Twin Peaks television show just so that I could attempt to get the references to this show in the game.

I am grateful for the GiantBomb.com website and the hard work that the crew pours  into this "little" community.    It certainly was a fluke that I found my way to this site, but certainly not a surprise that I stayed.

Loved all of the current GB staff (save for Drew) when they were at Gamespot and followed all of their shenanigans then. Then "the event" happened, followed Jeff's blog, the Arrow Pointing Down podcast, then the GB blog, then this.

Day 1 Giant Bomb Blog Reader

I found Giant Bomb via seeing what Jeff Gerstmann was up to, and listening to the old Arrow Pointing Down Podcast

Oh, the heady days of early 2008. Burnout Paradise, eh, I'm getting carried away. Good times.

A Quick survey of the responses shows that there are two camps: those that followed Jeff from Gamespot and those that stumbled here through a link from another place. Either way I am happy we are all here!

Thanks for sharing your stories.

They had an interview or something for Borderlands, a game I was super hyped for pre-release (I even had 1k+ posts on the official forums) and since I was looking at EVERYTHING borderlands related at the time, I came here to watch the video, ended up staying because the QLs were hilarious. I was using Gspot for news back in the day but never really got into the video conent/the community so had no idea who these guys were even though they were editors, lol.

I was on comic vine for like 6 months and one day I was bored and I knew that Giant Bomb was about video games. From there I was smitten and my 1 year will be in February. Cake will be involved.

Following Gerstman gate, I heard about giantbomb later as some of the other editors also left gamespot. I checked the site but didn't frequent it (nothing was there for a while). Then I started listening to the Bombcast when it showed up top 10 (i think) on itunes.

Didn't take long for it to become my favorite podcast. Couple weeks later I found myself checking this site again, got hooked on some of the videos and have been checking in weekly since then.

Probably from Kotaku or one of the other game news blogging sites.  I had been following the whole Gamespot mess so I was intrigued when I heard he had a new start up of his own.  Been following ever since.

I think I heard them mentioned on the Rebel FM podcast, and found their long form ramble-heavy format to be pretty awesome on the Giant Bombcast. I also enjoy the Quick Looks as an alternative to written or video reviews when I'm curious about a game.

I was playing Persona 4 and a friend told me about their endurance run of the game so after I finished the game I looked them up.

a friend told me about GB in September of '09.  I checked it out, loved it, made an account, and never looked back.  since then GB, Tested, and Screened have been moved to the three left-most points on my bookmarks toolbar, and I now visit the sites everyday.  I bought a year membership on day one, and plan to buy a second year the instant this one expires.

Got modded for hurting someone's feelings on the Gamespot forums apparently. Moved to IGN and the forums there just looked old as can be. Stayed for the podcasts though. When I began to search for more podcasts, I stumbled upon the Bombcast and now I'm here.

I followed most of them from Gamespot.  Jeff, Ryan and Vinny I knew about, but Vinny was kind of new for me when they transitioned over here.  I think I saw Vinny around Gamespot like once, but never really knew too much but came to quickly love him on Giantbomb!

A couple of friends of mine had a nifty signature graphic that they got from GB.  I came to get one a while back ago.  More recently I came back to check out my sig and achievements, and ended up sticking around for the forums and game info.

I knew of the whole GameSpot thing, but never really thought much about it after that, only hoping things went well for Gertsmann.

Originally a friend of mine told me about the quest feature earlier this year and that's what brought me here to GiantBomb originally.
Then through the quests I found I could help improve on a few Wikis here, and finally I began posting on the forums.

Listening to Cheapy D and Wombat talk about Giant Bomb on their CAGCast made me look this site up about a year and a half ago.  I didn't really get this place until recently but have been listening to the Giant Bombcast for a while now.

I was a fan of Gamespot and enjoyed the reviews of the likes of Jeff, Ryan, and Brad.

Then "that thing" happened, followed Jeff on his blog and saw the announcement of "Giant Bomb" on G4's X-Play and been a part of this site since Beta.

Someone mentioned the 50 Cent Blood on the sand review on /v/, I watched at and saw to my jaw dropping surprise that Jeff Gerstmann was conducting it. I thought that was awesome, but it wasn't until I started watching the daily persona 4 ERs that I got really hooked.

Gamespot was my place for game reviews but somehow I never knew about Gerstmann Gate because I wasn't a common user of Gamespot. I stopped looking for reviews and went off of my friends opinions but when I came back to gamespot one day I some random comment on some video about Jeff I came to GiantBomb around January 2009 after googling where Jeff works at.

This is an odd way of finding this site...

I followed Will and Norm from Max PC to Tested, then saw that it was just one of several sites under Whiskey Media.  Checked out Giant Bomb and fell in love :) Amazed I never found this site before then...

I only read 1Up for the longest time, and then the 1UPocalypse happened so I started looking for a new gaming site to frequent.  I remembered 1UP mentioning their support of Jeff Gerstmann (which had happened about 6 months earlier), and some of his guest spots on 1UP Yours, and decided to see where he had gone, since I respected him for taking a stand.  Watched a few videos here and I found my new home.

Ditto.  I listened to the Max PC Podcast every week and when they announced that Will and Norm were leaving the site I was like "Noooooo...." but then they mentioned Tested and I was like "Yaaayyyy!"

Lots of old skool people in this thread...I got here recently (6 months ago?) via the something awful rock band thread. They linked to some big live show stuff when drake and pope were playing RB with the giantbomb guys. I got hooked pretty much immediately.

I caught wind of Persona 4 on another gaming website, so I wanted to see some of the game in action. I did a search on google and saw that the Endurance Run was going, I think that was about July of 2009. I've been lurking around since, only joined a week ago or so though.

Someone on Gamespot linked the Rogue Warrior Quick Look. I had heard of Giant Bomb before then, and had wandered around it casually from time to time, but after that quick look.

I actually did have one of the premium Gamespot memberships, but never knew about any of the actual people that worked there.  I would occasionally catch a video, and I remember watching their big "We have a Wii, watch us play it!" thing, but that was it.  Then, one night, Penny Arcade updated their comic earlier than usual.  It was the one about Jeff being fired from Gamespot.  I was completely fascinated by the story for some reason, and dug around various sites for more information about the story.  Unfortunately, I never learned too much about it because of lawyers and what have you.

Several months later, I learned that he and some other Gamespot alumni launched Giant Bomb, so I checked it out...then said "Meh" and left.  I just felt there wasn't much there that interested me.  I was still into Kotaku and Joystiq for gaming "news".  A while later, I was linked to one of Giant Bomb's Quick Looks (no clue which it was) by a friend and I thought that it was hilarious and gave a better look at the actual game than any other site's videos.  I watched a few of their other videos and found that I really liked their style.  Then came the nail in the coffin:  I listened to the latest Bombcast.  I was then hooked to not only the style of journalism, but the personalities of the crew.  So, since about August of 2008, this has been the #1 site on my browser.

I had a mild interest in what some the ex-Gamespotters were doing after that whole debacle where everyone (that I knew) left.

That happened to be one of the first few days of the full site, so I signed up right away, watched a few videos and got hooked I guess. I didn't really post much here until a year and a half ago when I was looking for good forums (fora?)  to visit.

A little bit after all the guys left Gamestop I was listening to The Hotspot and someone posted in the comments that Jeff and Ryan had a new podcast. So I went to Ryan's blog site and started listening to The Arrow Pointing Down podcast from episode two. There they announced they were working on a site and the blog days of GB started. So I followed the building of the site on the blog with more Arrow Pointing Downcast and the How to Build a Bomb videos. When the real site launched I signed up day one. I have been following the guys since 04.

I watch a live stream a lot and heard them name drop this place like a thousand times and wrote it off as just another kotaku but one day i was really bored during a game download and decided to check this site out. I had the lowest expectations as possible and was blown away by the shear amount of personality here and had to stay so now i devote 2 or 3 hours of my day to watching videos on this site and have been for the past year now. Out of all other gaming media this site some how manages to feel human and loaded with personality for most of it is not just buisness as usual.

@natetodamax: Ii knew Jeff because he was Rich's sidekick on all the shows Rich hosted. So when Rich left Jeff took over and Ryan became his co-host. I also knew Brad and Alex because they were on the shows sometimes and regulars on The Hotspot. I barely knew Vinny because he was the guy behind the camera for all of it and didn't go on screen much.

Hated Gamespot always, was often the last place I'd look for anything, don't really remember the reason, just found it awkward and stupid to navigate. Heard of Giant Bomb because of the Matrix Online shutdown, hadn't ever played the game but was always intrigued about it, watched and laughed at their livestream and then forgot they existed. Then watched the STO beta livestream and decided I really liked the way these guys think and their humor, subbed to the podcast and yeah... thats pretty much it.

I was looking for a new podcast, and I heard about how Jeff started a podcast after Gerstmann-gate.
