Biggest letdowns of E3

Well, E3 2010's finally pushing toward the end, and now we have to look back.  There were great things, sure, but everyone's talking about that.  Let's talk about what let me down!

List items

  • What's there to say? The Kinect was a huge disaster. It doesn't look like you can do anything that isn't on-rails or mini-game faire, and it requires an absurd amount of space apparently. That MS chose to focus on this was a huge bummer.

  • Sony seems to be going the hidden charge route, selling the two wands separately. Not to mention you need the PlayStation Eye. That's an awful lot of stuff to buy, putting Move near the cost of Kinect. Considering the PlayStation Eye always looked grainy in my room, it's probably going to mean I can't use Move. Then of course is the question of space. How much room does this thing require? Ah well, at least the rest of Sony's show was game-centered.

  • I know, the game looks awesome. It'll likely be awesome. But I was really hoping against hope that there'd still be some trace of that awesome reboot video. The series could sure use a face lift about now.

  • Seriously guys, where the fuck is Beyond Good & Evil 2? Nobody wants your bad laser tag ripoff or your shitty casual games.

  • Nintendo had nothing but nostalgia on offer while pimping their hardware, and mixed in their normal smug arrogance. I sometimes wonder why Nintendo even comes to E3 anymore. It's not like they're making games for gamers.

  • Special mention has to be given to Skyward Sword. So far, it looks like that game's not going to be offering much outside of their combat gimmick. Just another game ruined by motion control.

  • Why exactly should I pay for the premium service? What are you offering?
