I personally would just pull the drive out of the laptop and connect it to my desktop. Since you don't have an adapter, just connect it to your motherboard.

No. However, I grew up in a first generation Asian household. One of my childhood observations is that my Asian friends' parents would request that shoes come off. In my white friends' homes, shoes were kept on. It baffled me, and I always felt really crappy when the mom was vacuuming, told me I could keep my shoes on, and then promptly would vacuum up the trail of leaves, dirt, and dust we'd track in.

Now that I own my own home and have been Americanized, I don't care. I take my shoes off. My friends (Many of whom grew up with Asian friends.) take their shoes off, but I never ask them to.

Who knows, maybe they're just following my lead. When I walk in the door, the shoes come off. It's just more comfortable. If I'm not expecting guests, the pants come off too.

Do you ride your bike or walk a lot? If so, I was recently introduced to an ARG called Ingress. It's currently invite only, but the premise is you're part of two teams. There are access points placed in the world that you hack. Members of the opposing faction can attack nodes you've placed and you can fortify your own nodes by adding shields and linking them with other nodes. You get resources for hacking by walking/riding around.

I have fond memories of the Marvel cartoons (X-Men, Spider Man) but I think they've aged horribly and weren't really good in the first place.

I have a tablet PC at work that I've thrown the 8.1 preview on. The only reason was for the start button; in my work environment, we simply cannot have thousands of people trying to relearn how to walk. The re-introduction of the classic start menu would have solved the UI issues.

Being able to boot up to the desktop is nice. However!

The start button is simply a button you click to bring up metro UI. It feels like a giant fuck you from Microsoft.

Advertisements in a few of the Metro apps are bull. The standard Metro is like a the Yahoo home page in tile form. Yes, you can edit it. However, I look forward to the day when someone's Win8 Metro UI screen is full of Bonzai Buddy 2014 QuickSearch Toolbar Internet Security 2017 tiles.

Fallout 3's world is more fun to explore. There's a mod out there that also gives a lot of the building interiors to explore as well.

New Vegas has a better story. It has better factions. It has better characters. It's also more linear than Fallout 3. I'd get the mod that turns New Vegas into one large area rather than 3-4 small maps. Otherwise, you'll get to New Vegas and be kind of bummed out that it's three buildings and then a load screen.
