It is weird for me. I sleep with a fan always, even when it is cold, but I also sleep using a sleeping bag covering my upper body. I can not fall asleep without those 2 things.

  • I only skimmed the thread so dunno if you mentioned it somewhere but Arc Rise for the holiday season? Looking around on the net it seems the release date for any non Japanese version is mid next year. Kind of got me excited. I have been keeping an eye on that game off and on for a while.

Well then. I finally got around to getting the 1999 achievement yesterday and I figured I would be done with Gears 2 multiplayer for a while (either way, I only played it casually). However, this is to cool to pass up since I have dreams of buying the DLC and getting the level 100 achievement some day as well. Haha, oh well. At least I enjoy the game.

  • Yep as others have said, the market really isn't there. Honestly I assume most people in Japan with a 360 probably own a PS3 anyway by now.

Added by Zenaxzd on Jan. 2, 2009

2008 was a pretty great year for video games. From a personal standpoint I think 2007 was still a tad bit better, but 2008 was solid. 2009 though, I am so excited for I can't control it. As you can already tell there is a ton of stuff I am looking forward to. So a system by system breakdown:

Playstation Portable

Disgaea 2 Portable: The Disgaea series is sweet. While I admit to not owning a single game in it, I have seen enough of the original to almost review the thing. If this game makes it to the US I will buying the first two on the PSP for sure. I love the sub-genre of SRPG and this is a series that rides on humor a lot too, something not a lot of video games do.

The 3rd Birthday: It has been a long time since there was a Parasite Eve game and I am wondering if anyone even knows what it is anymore? I fell in love with the series near its original launch but never owned a copy of my own until this past year, where I played through it multiple times because I loved it so much. Apparently this title is supposed to drop the semi-SRPG mold of the first game for a full on third-person shooter like Gears of War, or more likely the Syphon Filter games on PSP. Square Enix is not exactly known for making solid non-RPG games, but hey no need to judge it until it is out. All the Parasite Eve games before it have been good.

Star Ocean: Second Evolution: I just got into the Star Ocean series to be honest. I have always wanted to since Till the End of Time, but I never got around to buying it with the rush of games coming out at the time. Instead I have started where I should probably start anyway, The First Departure. So far I am impressed with the game, looks nice, sounds nice, and the combat reminds me of a Tales game, which is great. I am looking forward to Second Evolution a lot.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy: This is the first real super fanservice game from Square Enix that actually looks good. Pretty simple really, it is a fighting game featuring a hero and villian from each of the main Final Fantasy games and they get to beat the shit out of each other. All Final Fantasy fans dreams come true I am sure. Unlike some people I am not expecting the game to absolutely blow me away. I am expecting a game featuring Final Fantasy characters beating each other up.

Final Fantasy Agito XIII: Out of the three games that make up the XIII universe I think this one may be the most interesting to me. It originally started out as a cell game and then was quickly moved over to the PSP as well. No one talks about the game and little is known about it. Heck, I don't even know if it will come out in 09 but I am crossing my fingers for it.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep: At times I think I am the only person who does not think SE jumped the shark making 2 more Kingdom Hearts games. I absolutely love the series and I believe the two new ones (screw the stupid cell phone game coming as well) were good choices to make. Out of the 2 though this one does not interest me as much as the other because I know nothing about it. Sure we know some of the characters and that the story will take place some 10 years before the original series. But that is about it.

Nintendo DS

Pokemon Platinum: I like the Pokemon games. If you actually take the time to dig deep into how the game works you will see how it has constantly evolved through its 4 generations of games. This generation is the first to actually make me do competetive battling, and I did that for a few months before finally playing some other games. Needless to say I am absolutely pumped for Platinum to polish the series even more.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days: As I mentioned a second ago, this game interests me more than the PSP version. Sure it does not look as pretty but it is finally going to build upon Axel and Roxas' friendship. Axel spent 2 games going through great lengths to talk to Roxas and now we get to see that relationship grow.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time: While this is also coming out for the Wii I don't see any reason to buy it there personally. The first game for DS did a good job at cleaning up the combat problems the Gamecube version had thanks to the touch screen, and this game will finally be what the original strived so hard to do. I just hope there is voice chat, or some way to communicate with my partners.

Gyakuten Kenji: I doubt many people have heard of this one, since we are not even positive it will have a release date out of Japan yet. But I am a huge fan of the Ace Attorney series and Edgeworth has always been one of my favorite characters. Being able to play with him and develop the Ace Attorney universe some if a dream come true for me. I just hope it makes it in 2009.

Tales of Hearts: This is the first Tales game for the DS that we outside of Japan will probably see. As I mentioned before I really love the Tales series and I hope this one finds its way to my DS before 2009 is over. I really want to try one of these games on the DS.

Xbox 360

Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams: The original Bioshock is awesome. One of my favorite FPSes ever, but know what? I don't even own it... This is because I am being lazy, I know I should of picked it up by now but the holiday season beat me and I had to pick up a lot of the stuff that came out at the end of 2008. Still, we do not know a whole lot about this game and the trailer was crap mostly but I am expecting another wonderful game. (Disclaimer: Yes I realize this will be/is a multiplat game, but besides a few exceptions I will always get a multiplat game on the 360 due to the better controller in my hands)

Star Ocean: The Last Hope: As I said earlier, I am really liking the Star Ocean series so far. This game looks like a no-brainer in my book. I don't know if I will buy it at launch, but we shall see. It is looking good so far.

Resident Evil 5: I won't say I was ever skeptical of this game being good or not, but I was not sure if I wanted to buy it at launch or not. Luckilly the demo came out kinda and I got the chance to play it as much as I want. The demo was good enough to convince me to get it at launch. Its still ridiculously hard, I can play it co-op, and if I ever want to do it alone the computer AI is fine (in the demo anyway, I am sure it will get better from there). I mentioned elsewhere I have never really beat a Resident Evil game, this will probably be my first. It is a series I have always liked, but I am absolutely terrible at the games.

Halo 3: ODST: I won't admit to being a big Halo fan, but the games are fun; people just hate on the series the same reason Final Fantasy gets hated on, its popular. Honestly though I have only played the first 2 games and I thought the first was amazing while the campaign in number 2 was freaking awful. The multi-player though was absolutely fantastic. I still have yet to get Halo 3, but I will someday. Really though, ODST interests me more than any game in the series. If they do everything they say by making like a HUB with stuff you can do around there and all that I think it will be one of the better FPSes out there.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2: Call of Duty 4 is probably my favorite FPS ever to be honest. While it is another one of those games I don't own, I played the heck out of my room mate's copy. This game though if it does indeed come in 09 will be a day one purchase for me. I have a feeling it will be amazing. (Disclaimer: same crap as I wrote on Bioshock)

Nintendo Wii

The Conduit: This game is already a hot issue on the Wii, its funny how much hate/love the game is getting. My personal opinion? It is going to be what a good FPS should be. Looks nice, good control, and sold multi-player. I have a feeling it is going to sell pretty well, the game is just lacking one thing. Good advertising. All the "Hardcore" gamers know about it already, now the mainstream folks need to know. Seeing as Sega is publishing I am sure they will advertise properly. As far as the controls go, its not doing anything revolutionary, Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 has already done what they are doing, and done it well. That game proved to me that the Wii is my favorite place to play FPSes.

MadWorld: This game did not interest me at all last year. The gameplay looked fine but my eyes could not handle the black and white look at all. I don't know what changed since then, but now it does not seem to hurt my eyes and I am ready to purchase it and throw people into grinding machines and all that fun stuff.

The House of the Dead: OVERKILL: I like light gun shooters, they are fun. Everytime I went to see a movie as a kid me and my brother would spend countless time playing the arcade machines. The Wii is the perfect machine to stick these on and heck, I will buy them.

The next Tales game: This one is still a rumor, I think. But there is some footage out there saying the next Mothership title on the Wii.

Playstation 3

Final Fantasy XIII Versus: Chances are this one might not come out in 2009. SE said that the game was going to be continued after XIII is done. It is pure eye candy so far, and I am really enjoying the current "style" the game has. Made by the Kingdom Hearts team is a plus too.

Final Fantasy XIII: Yes. No idea if this one will make it in my hands by the end of 2009, but I really hope it does. I absolutely loved XII and this one seems to be continuing the same tradition. We do not know much about the battle system thus far, but it is not going to have random encounters so I am in love. (Why am I getting this one on PS3 as opposed to 360? Simple really, it is being developed for the PS3 and then being ported to the 360. So it will probably be filling up that Blu ray disc and I expect some big quality drops on the 360 version)

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves: I never actually played the first Uncharted game, but it will be the first PS3 game probably I pick up when I go to get mine in a few months. I love the concept, the graphics, the gameplay. It seems so exciting and is one of the few PS3 exclusives I am really interested in.

Killzone 2: I am not so sure about this one yet. I have never played the original Killzone game, but given how cheap it is I am going to pick it up pretty soon. I do not actually own a FPS on the PS2 and Im honestly not looking forward to playing one on it, but I will anyway. Depending on how much I like it will really be the determining factor on if I get Killzone 2 or not.

Well, that sums up what I am looking forward to in 2009. I can't believe there is already over 20 games I want. Next year is going to be a fairly ridiculous year.
