About time.

Though Persona 3 is better than Persona 4, just saying!

In what way? I liked 4 over 3 in many ways. Mostly the overall atmosphere and setting, I think. Then again I did play 4 first, and it seems like there's a pattern with peoples' preference depending on which they played first. (Says the one with a Mitsuru avatar. Oh the irony!) 3 overall had more interesting characters though, in my opinion.

Well one of those asides is going to have an official remedy very soon. Motion controls aren't my bag, but the option will at least be there for those that are interested...which I suppose is precisely your point.

Kinect for Windows

That's actually pretty nifty! Motion controls aren't my bag either, but that could potentially be used for lots of other applications aside from games.

@imsh_pl: Yeah I can't wait, when I watched the ER I pretty much listened to it like a podcast so that when I did play the game at least I could read the dialogue and not have too much spoiled though I know the ending I guess but you can kind of change a few things by who you pick as your girl right?

I was wondering about that. The primary drive to play Persona 4 is the story, which you already would know quite a lot of by watching the Endurance Run. Hopefully you still get a lot of enjoyment out of the game! It's one of my all-time favorites as well.

Sorry if some of these are obvious, but I figure why not?

  • WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion, The Frozen Throne--Not only has a great campaign, but lots of awesome community mods. I don't know how many of them are alive on Battle.net now, but they're out there.
  • Minecraft--This game has the potential to be a huge timesink if you like just messing around and building things.
  • Total War (franchise)--Great historical strategy games. I most highly recommend Rome, though, because Rome is awesome.
  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War and its sequel--Both solid RTS's, I'd say II is on-par with StarCraft, especially since SC's mythos seems nearly completely ripped from 40,000... but I'm not gonna get into that. It also has a nice option to play the non-linear campaign with some RPG elements co-operatively.
  • Left 4 Dead 2--A fun co-op and versus mode online, with all sorts of wacky modes. I wouldn't particularly play this one solo. Yeah, you could have played this on console, but c'mon. It's a Valve game. I'll also reiterate any of the recommendations for other Valve games, they're all worth playing.
  • Civilization IV--Someone else recommended V, but I'll tout this game over its next iteration. It just feels like a deeper game. And plus no DLC crap to worry about besides the actual expansion packs.

The greatest aspect of PC gaming is its downright flexibility. Out of any platform it is the only one that I can say with near certainty that I could use any control scheme I could ever want or need on it (aside from motion controls or touch-screen, but even then it could probably be emulated somehow). On a console you're limited to the controllers and peripherals created by the manufacturer, or by third-party companies. On a PC there are USB connectors for, most likely, any gaming peripheral out there.

My personal preference? Depends on the game. Generally if it's an obvious port from a console, say, Grand Theft Auto IV, for example, I prefer a gamepad. I use my Dualshock 3 with my Bluetooth receiver with no problem. I prefer this because I've played the series since GTA III, starting on PS2. I'd have it no other way control-wise, especially trying to... drive... using a keyboard and mouse? It's just strange. However, say it's a first-person shooter or a strategy game. Keyboard and mouse all the way. Yes, I used to play console FPS's, but I just can't get the same dexterity with a gamepad in these types of games. Yes, some people prefer gamepads, all the more power to them, I don't care. MMORPG? Also keyboard and mouse. No way in hell could you convince me otherwise on that. Way too many hotkeys are necessary. Other games can go either way. Portal 2, for instance, I can do just fine with a gamepad or a keyboard and mouse.

So yeah, I voted A, but with a caveat. Control preference is different for everyone.

Gotta be Ctrl, I always get messed up if I don't change it. I usually use C for push-to-talk.

The first game I was really mesmerized by was Super Mario Bros. for the NES, but kids were mean to me and didn't let me play. ;_; It was a few years later, but Super Mario Bros. 3 was probably my first game.

I'm happy with how support has gone against SOPA and PIPA at large, but at the rate the US government is going, it's only a matter of time before it's tried again. Our freedom is being slowly ebbed away mostly unnoticed and mostly uncontested. Little pieces of SOPA could easily get attached on to other unrelated bills which will get passed because they are necessary. I hate to be a pessimist, but I hold out very little hope.

Indeed, compulsive buying is the bane of my wallet as well. I'm better about it nowadays though~ sorta. I tend to wait for sales and to find the best version/port/collection/whatever of a game before buying it. But yeah... since I love RPG's, and the genre tends to have epic-length games, I don't make a lot of progress! That's why I'm still playing PS2, haha. I miss out on great new games, for example, I haven't even finished Oblivion let alone started Skyrim.

'Tis the life.
