Zero_: Best of 2010

  • I love, love, love difficult games and Super Meat Boy is friggin' _difficult_. I didn't like Demon Souls because the punishment for dying was pretty brutal, but with SMB, it's only back to the start of the level and that I can totally live with. The music is also pretty frickin' sweet. Definitely my best of 2010.

  • I haven't played any music games since the original Rock Band so I don't know of any of the changes and innovations since, but man, wow. Rock Band 3 has some pretty sweet stuff - love the integrated music store, love the how well integrated your band is into everything, and definitely love the aesthetic change from "rock is demons and fire" bullshit of Guitar Hero.

  • This would be higher if there were more levels because I maxed out 3 stars on every level pretty quickly. But it was still damn fun while it lasted. Super cute, great production - the perfect iPhone game really.

  • Holy shit I spent a crap ton of time on this. I really didn't expect this to be so friggin' addictive, I probably spent about 60 hours on this thing. For me, the sound effects of you churning out games is sooo good. I got up to year 35 or so and nearly maxed out all my characters - good stuff.

  • ModNation has a great, innocent charm about it. It's the perfect family game and I spent a heck of time racing with my brother and messing around with the character and track creation, which are super duper easy. The racing mechanics are pretty great, but sometimes it feels a bit 'floaty' like when you hit a boost that lifts you in the air. Pretty minor complaint for a fantastic game.

  • I skipped on this game when it was released despite hearing so much about it and being huge fans of PopCap through Bookworm Adventures. But when I did, man it was great. I'm a huge fan of tower defences, and the lack of mazing definitely irked me but this game is full of charm and just the right amount of difficulty to make it a massive time waster.

  • INDESTR- oh wait, that song's no longer there. Perfect.

  • I don't think I got into this as much as other people. I pretty much dismissed the single player, and just watched the cutscenes alone. The multiplayer is where I spent most of my time, and even that wasn't much - single player league matches are just too stressful for me, so I only really play with my mates, which severely hinders the number of games I can play. Definitely enjoy watching games more than playing.

  • I fell in love with the look and design of the game. The actual game itself is alright - makes you really see how much of a dying genre the 'ole beat-em-up is but it was definitely fun. The music is friggin' amazing though.
