Invisible walls

After playing Call of Duty: World at War for a few minutes I ran slap bang into an invisible wall.  I don't know if it's just me but I feel invisible walls are a sign of bad level design.  You could get away with it in the days of old because of the severe limitations with game engines but nowadays there's nothing really stopping a level designer putting in a cliff face or an impassable river, anything other than an invisible wall.
I'm running through a deep jungle and then I hit an invisible wall, talk about take you out of the experience, game developers should ban the use of them.

What's everybody elses thoughts?

Invisible walls still exist? They should be burned straight to hell. Who decided the use of invisible walls? I can get away with a long fence and then a hole being there for aesthetic purposes and not letting me through that, but a whole wall is disgraceful. Why can't I just pass through it?

Mind you, I'd rather have an invisible wall rather than a completly mysterious invisible electric fence as seen on many old 3D games that pops up and zaps you when you touch it.

They do indeed exist sadly. But it's mostly in poor games nowadays like you could see in the Darkest of Days quick look. I'm very surprised that a game with such caliber as World at War has them too :S
