Yup I had that problem in the citadel area. I cleared the entire area using stealth and couldn't do anything, then I ran to the other side and the whole freaking area re-populated.
I saw the plane thing (except for how he lives) and was still OMGWTF at that moment, my jaw dropped when you fly into the crate and frantically pull the shute. The boat was awesome too it kind of turned me around figuring out which way was up at some points. There seemed to be less set pcs. but some varied environments. After you break out of being captured and have to swim, shoot, jump your way to the cruise ship was pretty sweet too.
yes, it's 100% worth it. The style of play with the maps, destruction and vehicles is amazing and lends itself to more random situations. Unlieke something like COD (which I love too) it becomes less of a routine and memorization which is very fresh. It took a bit to get used to but now I'm itching to play every minute. I'm playing on PS3.
McShank I'm not worried, just an observation. Hell even Blizzard has trouble with servers. Regarding good FPS campaign's, I'd say COD MW and MW2 were great, they introduced gut wrenching pace action and new elements and I enjoyed them quite a bit. What is your definition of an "everyday" shooter? War themed? Killzone 3 had a good campaign as does Halo and if you go beyond military there's half life...Halo...etc.
I thought I read somewhere a few weeks ago that the PS3 and 360 versions would get some optional install to help the textures or something like that. I cannot find how to do this am I missing something?
My brief impressions so far:
Good
Multiplayer has some truly awesome moments (running into a building and having the wall blown off never gets old)
Teamwork seems to be prevalent so far, squad management still seems sparse but the teamwork is there especially with vehicles
Maps are awesome
Bad
Campaign is not good, I moved to one side of an area and I wasn't supposed to and guys never stopped coming from over the fence, like it was broke
Servers are taking a huge hit, laggy and no connection right now
Feels unpolished when compared to COD just in terms of running/shooting aspect. I can't describe why, just seems a little rough around the edges
This game hasn't blown me away with anything but seems like a solid multiplayer experience. I'm on the fence as to how long it will hold my attention and whether to jump to COD even though I'm kind of burnt out on that series.
Anyone remember a user named "Noops N Gleh" on the IGN Boards? That dude was the GTA3 king, he had the record for flying the plane and found secret areas and stuff.
