Currently, there's nothing on the Kinect that interest me. Dance Central is the exception, at best. I don't see myself playing those tennis or bowling games for a longer period of time. Kinectimals is cute, but the whole concept of taking care of a digital animal lends itself better to a handheld and it's not really worth $150. Just get a dog if you're really into taking care of a pet. I don't even think the Kinect works well as a device. Browsing menus seems really tedious with voice recognition since it only registers your commands half of the time. Browsing with motions is even worse, since you have flair your arms all over the place before it registers.

I can see the Kinect working in another place and time though. When games use the technology in ways we don't think of today and when the camera has enough fidelity to it, that you could basically browse the dashboard with eye movement. But until then, I don't really see the benefits over a traditional gamepad. Maybe it appeals to someone else, but I'm reserved for now.

Most of the opinions I see here are not that controversial. Here are some opinions that will make you shit bricks!

  1. DLC has ruined the gaming industry. We used to get finished games.
  2. Retro-gaming is awful. Stop pretending its still fun to play old NES games. You play for 10 minutes before realizing its not going to work. Only Metroid and Zelda gets a pass.
  3. Nintendo is currently the most conservative game developer, still making the same games they made 15 years ago.
  4. Real-time combat in Final Fantasy 12 was actually a good thing. Only FF game I finished.
  5. Okami was better than Twilight Princess. I even prefer Wind Waker over Twilight Princess.
  6. Bayonetta is the best game of the year. Better than God of War 3, Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption etc.
  7. EA ruins everything they touch, including Bioware. Yes, that means I think Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 was ruined by EA. But DA was slightly less ruined since it was finished when EA bought Bioware.
  8. The Dreamcast is not the best console ever made. (No, really. Its not. It had a couple of good games but most of the library consisted of old arcade ports)

I could understand the price hike if they did something with the service. Instead they say: "Hey, we raised the price by 20% and you get nothing back. We need to finance our time-exclusive map packs for Modern Warfare 2 you know. This shit isn't free!"

That's not the main reason why I refrain from renewing my Gold account though.  I play periodically online so I want to revert Silver membership from time to time. But it's such a hassle to cancel a Gold membership. I'm tired of having to call MS every time I want Silver back. Such a dick strategy to conduct business in.

I can't remember how old I was. 4-5  years maybe. We had a computer by Tulip, black/orange screen with a couple of games on it. Don't remember the specs. Managed to get Q-bert and Paratroopers started in DOS. But the first PC game that really hooked me in was Civilization. That was on my second computer. It was an Ambra 486 and later on we upgraded it with a CD-ROM drive and sound card with speakers. It was my mother who bought all those old classic PC games like Civilization and Sim City in order to get me interested in computers instead of the SNES. She partly succeeded because I played both on the PC, and the SNES. Good old times.

@MoggyGetro:  You know, it looks a lot like the game I'm looking for. Especially the effect when the water is flowering after a water bubble has popped. The year seems spot on too. It's definitely somewhere around that period 1988-1992. That game is also for the arcade and it's exactly that kind of style.

The only thing that doesn't seem right is the pacing. I remember it being much faster and looking slightly more archaic. But it was a very long time since I played it so I can't remember much. I'm going to look at some videos and see if Taito made any sort of predecessor to this game. But it could very well be that game I'm looking for. It sure looks a lot like what I remember.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Ok I have a game I've been looking for a while now.

My memories are kind of vague, but I've tried to piece together as much as I can:

It was a 2D platform game and I played it on an arcade cabinet. I think it was before 96. If I had to guess, somewhere between 1990-1992. Possibly from Taito. I only remember the gameplay vaguely, but it involved water somehow. You played as a dude with flowing water powers or shoot water blobs or something. The graphics were cartoonish, think Rainbow Island with lots of colors and fruit and shit.

I know it sounds like just about every platformer, which is why I can't find this specific one. But it's an arcade game from the late 80's or early 90's and reminds me of Rainbow Island, Bubble Bobble. Just need help to pin down a few possible games. I'll probably recognize it as soon as I see it though. Since it was an arcade game, it was pretty frantic as well.

I don't really like the look of this new DMC game. Asura's Wrath looks awesome though.
