The plot twist with Paz in this game still remains, at least in my mind, one of the worst narrative and storytelling decisions Kojima has ever made.

Good review. I will however go to my grave in saying that this game is where the creepy stuff starts to impact my ability to respect Kojima as a creator and Paz was a net negative for the series as a whole.

Again, sorry if these replies are belated, but I meant to get to these after my vacation, and then my vacation was graced with COVID and almost needing to go to the ICU.

It's interesting how differently you use Steam compared to me. I don't think I'd ever wanted to download a demo for a game before looking at its store page. I've also never watched a livestream on Steam and try to avoid them on the store as much as I can.

I can't relate to your complaints or praise about Next Fest because I realised a while ago that I don't really care about games that aren't out yet.

I'm not saying my way's better or worse, it's just interesting. At least we can both agree that the Discovery Queue doesn't seem very useful.

Here's the thing. Even if you are only coming to Steam to purchase wholly complete games, that's not as simple or easy as it could be, and allowing people to check out demos or having playable builds clearly marked on a game's individual page could make that so much easier. When games release on Steam, I don't even know what people consider a "complete" build. Is it two weeks after the game's initial release and it gets its first patch? Is it one year after release when the user reviews turn the corner? It's fuzzy and not at all easy to determine, and up to the individual to figure out with few tools at their disposal to make life easier.

I remember using Mediamonkey back in the day to organize my music. Metadata is hard and managing it sucks. Whose responsibility is it to sort all the endless 'content' dumped onto the store with proper tags? My library is not so insane that I can't do it myself (I also have a "Demo" category for example).

Dawg, it's crazy! I miss WinAmp.

Oh, how the youngins have no idea what they missed out on.

And Steam tags are a joke and I have given up all hope they will ever amount to being anything other than a source of memes.

Some of these game are completely and totally fine? Zork Nemesis is considered a series highlight, an all-time best in the genre, and it's not even the first game that wasn't a text adventure. That distinction would go to Return to Zork. Also, there was no going back to a traditional text adventure; the market was entirely dead. The back story behind why Star Fox Adventures became a Star Fox game makes me uneasy about including it. Doom 3 is a FPS shooter, and that's what the series has been? Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is baller and fans are and were wrong. If Minecraft and Roblox have proved anything, it is that Nuts & Bolts was five years too early in tapping into the builder genre. Syndicate is great and I stand by Jeff G's review.
