While I agree with their lists (well, mostly, i haven't played every game they talked about, but their reasoning seem about right/entertaining), I do find their recap of The Last of Us 2 to be problematic... mainly cause I think it was wrong (well, their recap of The Last of Us, via The Last of Us 2).

Joel is a horrible dad, total agreement on that. But they got a few details wrong in their summation of the Last of Us (I think, i could be wrong here, in which case all this text is pointless). First, Elle wanted to do the surgery, not sure if she knew it would kill her at the time, I think she did... Anywho, so the choice that she was robbed of, which plays out in her anger against Joel in the last of us 2, was the choice Joel took from her.

Also, that note (the thing people point to, to prove that it wouldn't have work) seem like a last minute addition (like all the cut scenes, audio and such, things that take time, said it would work, but the thing that would take like an hour to make, said otherwise) to make things confusing. My guess is that they play tested the ending, and people reacted poorly to Joel, so they added that note to muddy the waters to improve people's opinions of Joel. And they undid a lot of the uncertainly in TLOU2, from the flashbacks and such, it did seem like all the fireflies thought it would work for sure, and they made no mention of that notes content (well, unless there were other notes, that i missed in the flashbacks).

This is my list for this year. Played about 15 games in 2020 that came out in 2020 (overall played like 80 games this year, but the rest didn't come out in 2020). So yeah, put hundreds of hours into Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and it was fun, meaningful, and help me a lot with all the stress of this year.

Doing a quick look over the comments, and am seeing a lot of the same games, so i guess this year won't be too wild... well, not the community GoTY....

I see that Paper Mario: The Origami King isn't on many list, and i understand that, but that game has/had the biggest emotional moment (this year) in gaming for me. But its one of those that has to take you by surprise, so if you just youtube it, it won't land. So am guessing it won't get its due, since most people won't play the game naturally and get hit by the feels. Heck, even saying there a emotional moment is kind of a spoiler. So i'll stop talking about it, other to say, play the game if you can or have any interests in it.

Huh, I totally misremembered how this dlc ended. It was kind of shocking to watch the end of this video that I went online afterwards and looked up walkthroughs of the Citadel, just to make sure that there weren't like multiple endings (there aren't)....

Anywho, still wanted to suggest that Alex go back and switch his bonus power to dominate (the reward from the other dlc). It is basically a mind control power and in my opinion the best ability in that game.

Two things, first I vote for doing the DLC before the ending. Sure it would be nice to go out on a high and do it after. But that wasn't the game, or how it was designed. The ending, regardless of how we (those have seen/played it) feel about it, is the ending, and should also be the ending point for the series. (Yeah, i know some dlc for some games is design to go after the ending of those games, or are complete side adventures, but that isn't the case here in ME3).

Second, I would highly recommend buying the power you got from the DLC (dominate i think its called), resetting your powers to get it added to your skill set, and then using it. It is a unique power that you get from the DLC, and it is the best ability in the game (imo).

Am so glad they finally access the bonus power stuff. Now, they just need to use them. I do want to call out that there is one unique power that they get from the Leviathan DLC that no one else has in game (most of the bonus powers are just the unique powers your squad mates have, and you cannot get via any normal classes).

Sigh, Alex keeps forgetting about the med bay ability change station. Hopefully he remember soon, he is kind of close to the end.

To answer @alex question about Grunt and such.

If you play ME3 without a previous save, then a generic Korgen is there instead of Grunt. It plays out about the same. They do the dramatic fight with the music and such. But they just end up dead. And as odd as this sounds, it is kind of funny, since its a generic red shirt that you only meet for this mission, and yet they give it the exact same send off, even though, they were only 'on screen' for about 2 minutes.

I got my Gold Armor DiY from a random villager (when they were in their house doing the whole working on something thing they do 3 times a day). The Rocket DiY is from Celeste (i believe, i still haven't gotten this one).

I think i have posted this before, but most the DLCs for ME3 (well all the major ones) have important/vital information (Javik level of lore and such). So they should do them as soon as they can.
