I am liking it a lot, but there are two things about it that are really bugging me... well 3, but the last one is a bug (that doesn't seem to be happening anymore, so maybe they patched it already):

  1. The Aiming system feels to rpg-ish. And while that isn't a bad thing, it is still annoying, especially when your guy misses a 8 foot tall enemy that is 3 feet in front of them.
  2. The wound system is overly harsh in this game, and is a step backwards from the last one. Am finding that if my guys take any damage in a mission, then they'll be gravely wounded afterwards, regardless of how much damage they took. For example, in one of the last missions i did, one of my characters took 3 damage out of 8 hp (total health), and was considered gravely wounded.
  3. Lastly, and this may have been fixed already, but i found that my characters from my character pool (that i made before hand) were showing up in game incorrectly. They had the same body/race/name, but their hair styles and props were random. Also, they had bio that I didn't write. This also led to a few dupes, where I had 2 of the same character (name wise) in my starting group.

Watched the first two episodes and yeah... not sure what i think about it yet. I fell asleep doing the first one, but the second one was decent. My big problem with it right now is that i don't care about a 2 out of the 3 plot lines, so whenever they jump to the UN person (i think, she might be working for Mars, idk, and don't care) or the guy in the hat, i tend to tune out... So yeah... if that keeps up, am done with this show.

I ended with Rodrik barely alive, when he was found by Talia and Royland. Mira lost her head cause I was constantly trying to get most of the characters killed (I found them all really dull, and i knew the game wouldn't let me, well, not until they wanted it to happen). And Gared heading South, cause staying in the Grove made no sense, and I figure it made no difference which option i choose. But then again, i feel that way about nearly all the choices.

Am not sure if am remember it wrong, but i could have swore that you use to be able to skip dialogue... sigh, i missed having that ability in this game.

Yeah, just beat the game about an hour ago, and here are some of my take a ways,

  1. I know there story dlc coming (most likely paid, but they didn't say one way or another) since they announced a nova campaign at blizzcon for next year (3, 3 mission parts). So am guessing a lot of the holes in the ending will get filled there (most likely they'll all take place between the 2 year gap, since Raynor leaves in the ending at that point)
  2. Am not sure what to make out of Raynor's ending, he might be dead (he did walk off into a doorway of light with the memory of a woman who no longer exists), or maybe he is off somewhere with Kerrigod. Guessing the dlc won't clear this up, since it seems to be intended to be vague. In any case, i feel kind of bad for the character, since he seems to lose everybody, hell, i had the song 'Hurt' playing in my head during his ending cut scene (The Johnny Cash's cover of the NIN song).
  3. I wonder if they'll release any novels that deal with the aftermath of the game. Guessing they will, but i haven't heard anything yet.
  4. Overall i thought the ending was decent. I would have prefer more information, but they did proved enough so that i didn't feel cheated.

So it sounds like option 1 then, and it sounds like there might be different endings based on which main faction you choose (maybe)... Well that is very disappointing, i really prefer the fallout 1, 2, and new vegas style of personal endings, it made the choices in the game feel much more realistic.

(There are going to be some spoilers in this topic)

Hey, I know this game just came out, so most people haven't finished it, but I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of format the ending of the game is like.

For example,

1. Is it a pre-render cut scene(s) that plays the same for everybody regardless of most of their choices (like the last Deus Ex game, where you had ending, A, B, C, and D. And you choose that ending based off which button you pushed)

2. Is it a single cut scene that has minor changes to it depending on some stat or quest from the game (like the original fallout 3, and how it based the opening of the VO of the ending on your characters karma (you were a good guy, bad guy, or an average guy) or mass effect 3 original ending (different colors)).

3. Is it a group of small scenes tailor to the player's choices (like fallout 1, 2, and new vegas, where every buddy and faction had an ending scene).

Anywho, i know most people haven't finished this game yet, but i figure i would ask now anyway.

I made a list(which is actually on giantbomb), my current backlog is about 25 games long, which resulted in a lot less stress. I know I have games left to play, and i know generally how many, but for the most part, i don't think about them, or remember which games are on the list.

There's a petition being advertised in the Steam forums for Dontnod to produce a "satisfactory" ending or at the very least more content. It almost has 4000 signatures.

Ugh, that's such a disgusting insult to Dontnod and the game they already gave us. I hope they ignore that shit. People make me sick.

I mean, uh... what were they expecting? A finale where you take on the tornado?

Wait, so what am hearing is if i sign that petition, they'll add an additional ending option where Max punches the tornado?... hmm... that is tempting... i do like the current ending (well, it would be nice if the save Chloe ending was longer or had other people in it), but punching a tornado sounds awesome.

Here are my choices, for the most part, i didn't know that i was choosing since my game's hud bugged out, and didn't display the butterfly icon...

  • David got the scar, didn't know i could prevent this.
  • David didn't kill Jefferson, screw Death, as i see it, Death was my foe, and while i wanted Jefferson gone, i wasn't going to give Death anyone (well, at that point i wasn't going to give Death anyone, but as you'll see by my last choice, that change to I wasn't going to give Death one person no matter the cost (am going to assume that everyone else that i directly saved is still alive)).
  • Saved the Trucker, and Evan, Did not manage to save Alyssa since i accidentally went into the building and didn't see her, if i had, i would have saved her.
  • Did not get Joyce to believe in David again, like i said above, due to the game bugging out, i didn't know this was a choice, and i actually thought that they were good, by what she said.
  • Told Frank about Rachel, and made him feel bad about being a dealer.
  • Hugged Warren, i gave him the cold shoulder through out the game, but my policy in adventure game is to always hug (since seeing Kenny again)
  • Saved Chloe, I knew this choice was coming from a few episodes now, and well, i made it back then. So really, the game didn't need to drag out the flash back scene at all for me, since i was good to choose.

Overall I liked the ending, and from what i can tell from comments and articles on other sites, i like it a lot more than most. I think this is largely due to the fact that i played the episode over 3 days, (day 1 was the Jefferson stuff, day 2 went up to the nightmare, and day 3 was pretty much the nightmare to the ending), and that time gave me a different view of the events and dialogue. I did this partly because i work and didn't have time, but also because i know what adventure games are like. I have played games like the walking dead, non-stop over a weekend, and i have played them over the course of days/months. And i found that they are nearly always better over time, than in one sit down. Not sure why, but am guessing that given time, choice base games, seem more impactful and players (in this case me) are more willing to listen to long dialogues.
