    In Proteus, the player awakens in the sea off the shore of a peaceful island, and simply explores the island in different seasons, enjoying the procedurally-generated sights, the way their surroundings shape the low-key soundtrack, and the simple graphical style.

    After hearing Jeff getting behind this game on one of the GOTY podcast I decided to give it a shot. Long story short: I adore it. The weird thing is I can't even describe it to someone. I know how it makes me feel and that's hard to explain. I guess it's like listening to Bonobo. Both have these cycles of pure happiness and some weird kind of melancholy...

    I hope there will be more experiences like this in the future.

    I liked it too. It's got a nice sense of wonder and curiosity to it. The ending is particularly interesting, and like you said, it has an almost melancholic tone to it.
