The "Psyche Meter" is much like the Stamina Meter from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. However, it lowers in a different way. Any stressful event, be it getting shot, spotted by enemies, chased, or nearing an explosion, all cause Snake's stress to raise. When the stress percentage is high for a period of time, the Psyche Meter lowers, resulting in negative effects such as loss of vision, increased hand trembling when aiming, and slowed heath regeneration.
