Double Fine has always had the right to produce sequels to Psychonauts, but whenever you purchased a copy of the original game on Xbox Live or Steam, the money went to Majesco, who published the game. That's changed, according to a tweet from Double Fine programmer Anna Kipnis.

"Double Fine is now the sole publisher of Psychonauts!! If you buy it now (on Steam, for instance), the proceeds go to us!" said Kipnis.

Maybe Double Fine can start a Kickstarter to get that Psychonauts sequel off the ground!

I wouldn't mind a Beyond Good & Evil HD style update to the game, either.

I played the demo on steam, and found the controls kind of iffy, but now seems like a good time to give it another go.

Never played Psychonauts but I've heard nothing but good things. I'd buy a upgraded version on XBLA.

Now I really don't have a good reason not to buy this on Steam

Man the PC version still looks gorgeous. Such an awesome game.

Now if they could improve the gameplay in the sequel, I might finish it.

I'll probably download this on XBLM this weekend.  I trust Steam gets on it right away, but are we sure MS updated the redistribution of income?  They tend to drag their feet when it comes to updating things.

Don't wait... the game is fantastic. Look past the jagged edges and experience one of the most unique worlds (made of unique worlds).

Man this seriously bums me out a bit, especially seeing how there are no other Double Fine games on PC and I don't have a console.

Man, I wish I had held off on buying Psychonauts till now. Double Fine deserves to make some money off the game, it's darn good.

Psychonauts is a near perfect game (the cobweb duster is stupidly overpriced), and I'm glad to see Double Fine get what they deserve for their impressive work.

This makes me want to buy it second time. I love Psychonauts.

Don't know if this means anything practical, but a sequel would still be really awesome.

psychonauts gets so much hype, but I just couldnt get into it... Anyone want to give me a reason to give it a 2nd go?

I love that game to death.  They really created a fun open world platformer.  It was I was expecting more of from Brutal Legend. I hope their next proper disc release is Psychonauts 2, or something similar.

I remember this game being one of the first games I had played that was legitimately funny.

I had the same issue with Psychonauts than I had with Brütal Legend: The gameplay itself is kind of bland and uninteresting. Everything around it is great and different from the usual shit, but I need more satisfying gameplay.

I would be interested to know if they had any reason for doing this other than just the royalties. I'd think that most people who are going to play psychonauts probably have by now!

I should give this game another try. I played the PS2 port many years ago and i was not impressed. . . perhaps that version was not good.

Shame that I already bought it. Might gift it to a few friends on steam though.

Brilliant game despite the fact I can never seem to finish it. Difficulty curve on that game is fucked, but it's great. Not sure how much money Double Fine will get from it though, it can't be selling for much, I mean, I got it for £1 in a Steam sale

Hey that's awesome! I really enjoyed Psychonauts and have been wanting a current-gen sequel.

Had a little bit of a freakout when I saw Psychonauts on the front page.

I bought this game as an Xbox Original, and despite the fact that I never finished it, I really liked what I played. I may go back to it if I run out of games to play this summer.
