If you need any help . . .y'know . . .thinking, just let me know.  I'm here to help.

Quayle is a recruitable gnome cleric/illusionist in Baldur's Gate. He can be found on the far side of the bridge that leads into the city, and introduces himself by asking which direction the player is headed in. He is invariably heading the same direction, and offers his services.

Quayle has a very, very high opinion of his own intelligence, and is not afraid to say so. He likes using convoluted words whenever possible, and talks about his amazing brain to an extent that makes Edwin seem humble. Quayle and Tiax argue quite a bit, with Quayle belittling Tiax's ambitions on account of him having an 'uncluttered' mind. If Tiax dies, Quayle will gloat that he might have told Tiax he was too dumb to live.

In Baldur's Gate II, Quayle makes a brief appearance as leader of the circus, and Aerie's adopted uncle. This incarnation of him is far gentler and less brain-obsessed than the original, and judging by what Aerie says about him, he even seems to have had a change of faith from Baravar Cloakshadow, the gnomish god of illusionists, to Baervan Wildwanderer, the gnomish god of the outdoors.
