I think sales of this "game" are going to go through the roof.

Without rape games, what will the Japanese adult industry sell now? Thats like their bread and butter.

TBH Rapelay wasn't as good as AG3 or SB3.

It''s not like it wasn't against principles. and really wasn't in Japanese point of view.

I stay away from AnimeVice - Rapelay just isn't my scene and I get the vibe that the AV community is a wee bit too into it.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with this. I'm not one to criticize what people are into, but how much remorse can you feel when motherfucking rape games are banned? Damn.

I think it's more of a problem with censorship in general not  "Damn, I can't simulate rape now".  At least I hope it is...

The reason it looks "exactly like GiantBomb" is because it's a Whiskey Media website, some call it a "sister site". If we want to get technical, Giant Bomb looks "exactly" like Comic Vine.

There are a couple of reasons I am disappointed by this.
With all due respect, I am not endorsing pornography of any kind, and I don't know if you would consider this related but hear me out.

You see, recently a man was arrested in the USA for possessing lolicon manga, or erotic drawings of underage girls, and maybe there were some drawings of child rape. This became a pretty big scandal among comic book fans, writer's etc. because they felt that a piece of fiction was not in any way hurting anybody in the real world (which I find similar to this case).

An English writer named Neil Gaiman wrote an interesting piece about this, saying the following:

"If you accept -- and I do -- that freedom of speech is important, then you are going to have to defend the indefensible. That means you are going to be defending the right of people to read, or to write, or to say, what you don't say or like or want said.....Because if you don't stand up for the stuff you don't like, when they come for the stuff you do like, you've already lost."

Here's what Penn from the Penn and Teller magic shows said on the game. It was pretty interesting, in that he says they're treating the game like a Thought Crime.

You know, that pisses me off.

The game is completely distasteful and offensive.
But the precedent that a game like RapeLay may encourage sexual assault just opens the door for "violent games encouraging violent behavior" and "driving games encourage reckless driving"

"I might not agree with what you say, but I will die for your right to say it" springs to mind

Say, they didn't ban any of those awesome Visual Novel games did they? I've gotta play and finish School Days some day before I die.

I really have 3 ways to post a response:
1. Make an immature comment about how disappointed I am that there will be less virtual raping going on.
2. Make comment about how this is bad because it violates people's "right" to virtually rape/Free Speech
3. Make comment about how it's a good thing because virtual raping games are kind of messed up and so are the people who play them.

I pick all of them.

totally to do with censorship and I understand their concerns, but I think there are times when there are things as vile as rape that kinda need to be censored. In my opinion anyway.

Bullshit, there are tons of Japanese H-games with extremely shocking scenes far far worse then this little game that someone who did not see them can not even image for years, decades yet it is this one that gets attacked.

Thank you very much western pressure groups, fuck you very much.

What's next? Authors will be to afraid to write about rape in books? Then sex? Violence is pretty bad too no?

Here is Apathylad's video

It's conflicting because from what I understand, they're are probably worse things being sold in Japan in regards to the adult industry over there.

It's morally disgusting, but where do we draw the line? Are we now suggesting that this rape game teaches people how to rape people? What's stopping crazed anti-gamer-zealots from now pointing at this as an example over why we should ban violent games over the ludicrous idea they teach how to kill?

I do have to admit, like Thrill Kill and Manhunt 2 before it, there is the gamer enthusiast in me that wants to hunt down a copy and just see what all the controversy is about. The company that makes this and the product in question is just about to get a serious boost in publicity.

after thinking about this, i can't help but agree

for the sake of freedom of speech and freedom of art. Though I myself will not be buying or playing these games, there is no reason why they should be banned.

it's about context and people taking more responsibility with what they buy.

I think.
