Overview
R.B.I. Baseball '93 is the fifth game in the R.B.I. Baseball franchise and the first to take on the year of its season for its title. It followed 1992's R.B.I. Baseball 4 which, like this game, was a Sega Genesis exclusive.
The R.B.I. Baseball series had the endorsement of the MLBPA, or Major League Baseball Players Association, but not the MLB itself: this meant that the player names were accurate for the '93 season but the team names were reduced to just the city names.
The series would see two more annual iterative entries for Genesis and a SNES spin-off Super R.B.I. Baseball before becoming dormant for many years, resurrected in 2014 by MLB Advanced Media.
