Video games generally try to shy away from negatively portraying real religions to avoid controversy, however they make ample use of fictional in-game religions.

    In-game Religions

    Sometimes games create their own intricate belief systems, that may or may not parallel real ones, in order to flesh out the game world more. In-game religions tend to come in many different flavors and specially prominent in RPG's. Also RPG's are generally the only games which allow the player to choose their religion, and have built special advantages or disadvantages to being part of one.
