Are you a prolific reloader?

#1 Posted by Vivek (517 posts) -

So im watching the ER at the moment and watching Brad not reload after every fight drives me nuts. I have also realised that on the other hand I may "over" reload. What I mean by this is the fact that after killing an enemy I will instantly hit the reload button even if I have 90% of a magazine left. This keeps my gun full of rounds, but also gets me in sticky situations when I should be firing but end up dying because I was reloading.

Anyway Discuss...

Yes. If you saw me play a game with guns, I would drive you mad-- reloading after literally every little encounter. Oh boy you should see me play Gears of War where active reloading boosts your damage...

I certainly am

I'm the exact same way. I think a lot of people are. It would be interesting if games started punishing this behavior by wasting whatever bullets were left in the clip when you reload.

#5 Posted by Wes899 (2126 posts) -

I reload whenever I'm not shooting.

Considering the fact how almost every shooter in existence reminds you to keep your gun fully loaded at all times, yes. I am a prolific reloader.

I think Battlefield Vietnam did that.

Also, I'm a reload addict. That killed me countless times in online shooters.

Yes. With both ammunition and quick-saves. Quick saves kill my skill.

#10 Posted by rathantoras (192 posts) -

Always, every shooting game i ever play.

#11 Posted by ReefTrigger (91 posts) -

I find myself trying to reload with weapons that are already full, or weapons with no reloading (EX. pyro flamer in TF2).
Interruptible reloads are my friend XD.

#12 Posted by Vivek (517 posts) -

Great to see im not the only one!

#13 Posted by Tarakun (225 posts) -

My first online shooter was Counter Strike 1.6, where not having a full clip meant you were dead in any combat situation, so I instinctively reload after killing anyone, or shooting my gun at all.

It's a reflex at this point, I just hit R after I shoot. I don't even think about it anymore.

#14 Posted by ThatFrood (3394 posts) -

If I click the mouse button, I press r afterwards.

#15 Posted by MrKlorox (11209 posts) -

More games need clip management. Where when you reload, you lose all the remaining ammo in the clip when discarding it. BF2 had this and it taught me not to reload constantly since you could only carry 2 or 3 extra clips with you.

#16 Posted by stephengotlost (703 posts) -

Team Fortress 2 has auto reload and they are interruptable now. So no, I don't ever have to manually reload with any other class other than the Spy.

#17 Posted by JacDG (2130 posts) -

Even if I just fire a single shot, I reload so to answer your question. Yes, yes I am.

#18 Posted by KingBroly (1645 posts) -

I reload whenever I get the chance.  In online games it usually leads to me dying.  But then if I don't reload I end up dying more than half the time anyway.

Same here, it's just instinct for me to hit the reload button as soon as combat ends.

most of the time i die in multiplayer fps's is when im reloading, ill kill an enemy and reload instantly if theres no one about, but sometimes there is a person about

#21 Posted by Bhouse563 (159 posts) -

I used to reload so much in COD4 that it became an actual problem, I was reloading when I was turning corners and when I should have expected more than one enemy. Cause me alot of deaths. Pretty glad I kicked that habit.

#22 Posted by HandsomeDead (11863 posts) -

A large proportion of my deaths in online FPS games is because I'm reloading while walking round a corner.

#23 Posted by Landon (4164 posts) -

If you don't have a full clip on your next enemy encounter, your playing it wrong.

#24 Posted by W0lfbl1tzers (1789 posts) -

The only game I don't is TF2. It's bad that I don't because I primarily play scout

#25 Posted by Drebin_893 (2933 posts) -

I reload, even if the magazine has 64 bullets in it and I've shot 1 or 2. It's just something I do.

I reload an awful lot, usually even after firing one or two shots.

#27 Posted by Afroman269 (7387 posts) -

I am too.

#28 Posted by TheGreatGuero (9130 posts) -

Yeah, I reload all the time, and am also bothered by seeing people not reloading during safe opportunities. I do try to hang low while I reload, especially if that gun takes a while to reload. Otherwise, I'm totally vulnerable to DEATH!

I think that's actually a really good idea. I think the whole reloading mechanic should be changed a bit. Also, people don't really reload weapons while still running around at full speed. Usually they'll hide behind cover to reload. Perhaps this is a strategy that games should start to implement.

My brain can't function if I have one bullet missing in the my clip and I am just walking around, I was screaming at the video today when brad was changing his gun in the elevator, I hate indecision and Brad is the king of it.

#30 Posted by jonnyboy (2920 posts) -

All the god damned time. It's almost an OCD. In fact if I take damage it's usually because I'm half way through a reload animation when I get jumped.

Also, every game should have Active Reload.

#31 Posted by SPACETURTLE (1622 posts) -

When playing online multiplayer games I tend to fuck up and get killed every so often because I constantly reload. So I am definitely over-doing the reloading. And I to are driven mad by the ER every time after Vinny or Brad is in a fight.

Yes, almost to a fault.

#33 Posted by Vivek (517 posts) -

I personally blame CS from where it all started.

#34 Posted by Atomasist (2818 posts) -

Hello everyone, my name is Andrew and I am a prolific reloader.

#35 Edited by I_smell (3925 posts) -

I reload whenever I'm sure I can't be shot, or while the other guys are shootin up my cover.
Brad fuckin annoys me, he walked around with 0 bullets for like 2 whole minutes!

I reload every fucking second in Gears. Sometimes I fire like 90% of a clip at thin air, then active reload jus so I can beast up on fools.
It's funny when you waddle round a corner fiddlin with your reload animation an you're like AAWWW FUCK WHY DID I DO THIS!?
#36 Posted by Defias (171 posts) -

I reload after every kill if I don't see a person. However I get killed a lot because of it, because an enemy runs out of nowhere and catches me reloading

#37 Posted by Andheez (597 posts) -

I would venture you are out of the norm if you DON"T, which seems validated by everyones post.
I will say that playing BFBC2 at the moment, I don't always reload if I am a medic and have a 200 round gun, due to the reload time.

1 Kill =1 Reload

#39 Posted by ButtonsMcBoomBoom (128 posts) -

I think Brad is just bad at games

#40 Posted by Hero_Swe (1205 posts) -

Only in games which doesn't have clip management
