Yeah, I see this as good news. Everything I've heard about the first PC version makes it sound like an absolute nightmare to even play on a computer.

This seems so pointless. Also this game is one of the most overrated games of all time.

So is Capcom going to work on the cutscenes? I get that the cinematics were not done in game but it bugs me how awful they looked in the PSN HD version. Its funny that after all this time, RE4 is being released again. On a separate topic. I was hoping Capcom would bring back the Onimusha series.

I think Nintendo helped to an extinct (helped fund?) for those games so I think they will be locked forever with Nintendo.

That original port was an abomination.

I wonder if this is just the PS3/360 version they released a year or 2 ago. They say bonus content but don't show anything that wasn't already in there and it'd be surprising to see proper new content for an 8 year old game.

I don't get why people are jumping on Yummy... All he said was that it's ridiculous that this game is being rereleased again... and it is. Honestly, this is like the 5th or 6th release now. That's not bad, just ridiculous.

Eh, whatever, the PC is pretty much the only platform left that doesn't have a decent port of the game. And no, fan made patches do not at all make up for a lousy port.

It's a fantastic game. The more people are exposed to this the better.

They could re-release it every year and i'd be fine with it.

The question of "why" is strong here (especially since the HD moniker is always funny when attached to a game previously available on the PC and they could have easily left it at "Ultimate Edition"). I guess it doesn't hurt anyone, but it would make more sense to toss this on the PS4/One as well. Just interested to see pricing here, because there are now how many other avenues to own this game that would be cheap and just fine.

Original version pc version is pretty hilariously bad, but that just adds to the charm. RE4 is like a top 5 game all time (in a series of games that don't even scratch the top 100) so the more versions the merrier.

Also I agree with Yummylee; it is ridiculous how many times they have re-released this game.

RE4 was released during an era where QTEs were rather novel, and were somewhat of a then revolutionary jump in adding some interaction to story cutscenes. Obviously they're played out now, but at the time they were sorta neat. Plus they're not nearly as invasive or over-bearing as they are in RE6 for example.

And RE4 undoubtedly has one of the most tolerable escort mechanics I can recall, without your escort being outright invincible. Ashley, your escortee, is smart enough to get out of the way when you're aiming , and you can also sometimes have her hide in bins or whatever, or can at least tell her to stay put in one particular place to keep her out of the way. There'll undoubtedly be the odd moment where she gets carried off or killed, but as far as escort companions go, she's surprisingly intuitive and not nearly as much of a hassle as you would expect. Though as a character, she can be pretty bloody unbearable...

EDIT: Plus, I'm sure it won't be long before there's a mod that unlocks Ashley's suit of armour costume, that makes her invincible and too heavy to be carried off by the ganados, at the outset.

Think about it like this, the original PC port of RE4 was garbage, without heavy modding that game was junk. With this new "Ultimate HD version" not only do you get a better RE4 for PC that runs at 60FPS, but that same passionate modding community that helped make the original port better will be there also. Now imagine what they can do with a better port, when they worked miracles on that crappy one?

Just saying man, RE4 was an amazing. It deserved way better than that original PC port.

Then again I get upset whenever a game I love is shoved on mobile devices without any care. Just cash grabs, but hey that's how this industry wants to be. For better or for worse.

i havent played RE4 i wont play this 29th version. i would rather have a vita version of dead rising. 28 versions? On what systems? Are there 28 systems to put it on?

I look at this release as Capcom saying "We have no idea what to do with this franchise anymore, so here's another port of the one that people really like." I like that they have to distinguish it as being the Ultimate HD edition because there was already a regular HD edition. But hey: 60FPS is no joke.

This all being said, I will totally buy this game again once it's like $5 on Steam.

To be honest I'm surprised they have never done a 3DS version. Revelations was pretty good on the system. I think being able to play it on a handheld would be pretty rad.

I was going to buy DMC3 for PC after all the moaning and weeping about DmC took place, where several people cited DMC3 as the pinnacle of the series - but then I read that it only has partial controller support and is an all around shoddy port. So I wouldn't mind if they released it with proper support, although considering how DmC sold under par, I can see them not really wanting to sink anymore money into the series.

New controls that actually work well, together with some sharpened-up graphics = Yes please. I only ever got to play the previous port, which was hot garbage.

I think I'll pass. I've replayed the game a dozen times on GameCube, purchased it again on XBL and honestly? I'm a little burnt out.

i'm actually ok with this. The original PC version was a train wreck, the HD version on console was filled with blurriness and jaggies. I'd like a proper high res version of this game and it's at the right price point. Will be picking this up whenever it's on sale the next steam sale.

I will not be satisfied until RE4 is ported to cell phones, Smart TVs, and Texas Instruments graphing calculators.

I remember trying to play the PC version of RE4 once. Holy shit was it bad. No mouse support, are you freaking kidding me? Maybe if they fix that (and other issues I'm not aware of) then I might be tempted to play it again.

Yeah, 20 bucks isn't a bad price per say, but this game screams steam sale to me.

I'd go farther than tolerable; Ashley is a downright fun escortee. the suit of armour was good for NG+ when you just wanted to play around with new weapons, but the tension of making sure she stays safe is half of what makes the gameplay in RE4 so good. It was never terribly difficult to kill hordes of enemies (headshot, kick, two quick knife swipes and then move on), but having to keep your head about yourself while protecting Ashley is the only thing that stops the game from being mind-numbingly easy, which is especially apparent on the Wii version where you can basically no-scope headshot the Ganados.

She's a pretty awful character, though. I don't blame Leon one bit for what he did at the end of the game.

@humanity: Yeah, it's a shame really. Like previously mentioned by other posters, DMC3 for PC deserved better.

That original PC port was probably one of the worst controlling games I have ever had the misfortune of playing. So... I'll let this one slide, Capcom.
