supakoopatroopa's Resident Evil 5 (PlayStation 3) review

Exciting the whole way through.

RE5 is similar to the old Resident Evil games, except this time you're in Soviet Russia and Zombies shoot YOU! Nah, actually you're some place in Africa.

Similar, being it contains zombies and some of the characters from the previous games, but it is totally different gameplay. No more camera angles and creepy settings with zombies that pop out of nowhere and scare you. In this game you see it coming at you, you know what to expect around the corner, and you're just trying to survive.

The graphics are top notch, almost as good as they get for PS3. I don't remember any music from the game, like those scary themes from RE2. The zombie AI is quite good, being that zombies aren't very "Intelligent". They are a lot different than past zombies, because they're fast.

It was exciting the whole way through. Some things I didn't like - stupid predictable dialog, and your AI teammate doesn't do what you want her to do. Finding ammo is another problem, but I think it's what keeps you on the edge the whole way through.

As you work your way through the game, you collect treasures that you can sell to buy/upgrade new weapons and features.

The Online is fun, but takes a while to match up with other players. There are many new characters to unlock as you gain points from winning or losing matches.

If you have PS3 or 360, definitely rent or buy this game!
