Buy it but dont expect too much 0

A good add on which added a few more hours to my Resi 5 gameplay. However, the sense of DeJaVu whilst playing this add on is knocked back by a weird lack of zombies. This sort of irritated me at first as I was hoping to see some of the classic zombies revamped as I was getting bored of shooting majini. The Guardian of Insanity (the new enemy) is messed up :P Must be played strategically on professional, like any higher difficulty should be.  ...

Emblems and Jill sandwiches: The Return 0

If Resident Evil 5 was the series' try at a more action-oriented horror, then the Lost in Nightmares DLC attempts to go back to the moodier, more atmospheric days of early Resident Evil. It's designed to be a throwback and to echo the game of 1996 but at the same time to bring the RE4/5 control scheme and make you wonder how a more horror-bent RE would work. And it works surprisingly well though I can sort of see this not working fully across long term as backtracking can feel a bit TOO much lik...

Lost in the Nightmare Review 0

RE5: Lost in the Nightmare      The first piece of Resident Evil 5 DLC brought a lot of controversy over the fact it should have been a part of the original game disk, will this be worth buying or should you just let this one slide.       Lost in the Nightmare takes place during the time Chris and Jill infiltrated the Spencer Mansion, seen many times during flashback cutscenes in the actual Resident Evil 5 game. For those who have played the original Resident Evil title (remake or not) you ...

(DLC) A Nice, Nostalgic Throwback to Resident Evil's Old Days 0

Note: This Review Is For Resident Evil 5's  Lost In Nightmares DLC. For My Resident Evil 5 Review, Go Here. The original Resident Evil 5 strayed away from Resident Evil's old formula a lot, even more so than Resident Evil 4. For fan's of the old formula, meaning locked doors, traps, levers, a lack of weapons, and most of all, a scary, on-the-edge-of-  your-seat atmosphere, you'll love Resident Evil 5's new downloadable content, Lost In Nightmares, because it diverts b...

    Desperate Indeed 0

The last piece of downloadable content of Resident Evil 5 is now upon us. Whereas Lost in Nightmares gave loyal Resident Evil fans a taste of what their favorite Resident Evil games could be like, Desperate Struggle provides more of what Resident Evil 5 gave us: Lots of zombies, lots of ammo, and lots of frustrating moments that are unnecessary.Desperate Struggle is about Jill being rescued by Josh from an underground cave that Chris and Sheva cleared out for him. We all knew Josh was an opport...

    Great!!! 0

To all the naysayers out there who want to complain about RE5, I have one thing to say... play the game for yourself.  I almost didn't buy it because I heard so many mixed things out there, but I was a real fan of RE4, and had been waiting for this game since I first heard about it.  Now that I'm playing it, all I can say is WOW!!!!True, you can't pause and move things in your inventory, but if that's a reason why you wouldn't play this game, then you're missing out on one of the most fun experi...

Living in the Shadow of RE4 1

You can't talk about RE5 without knowing the impact of RE4. RE4 won a dozen or more game of the year awards back in 2005 and even introduced real gaming to Wii owners in 2007 :) So, the expectations for RE5 were sky high to say the least. And if you don't think that impacts the reviews both positive and negative, think again. The Resident Evil series has also been plagued with another significant battle between those that understand and even like the control schemes and those that despise it.  T...

WARNING: Spoilers, Bad Language!Resident Evil has been a name that symbolizes horror since it's debut in 1996.  In 2006, Resident Evil 4 was the most praised and critically acclaimed title of the series, redefining both gameplay and horror.  How does Resident Evil 5 compare to it's predecessor? The story is good at best.  As a direct sequel to Resident Evil 4, the story just continues where the last one ended.  Nothing special that sets this title apart from the other Resident Evil titles. Some en...

Controls just did it for me... 1

I was really looking forward to this game and playing some more co-op with one of my friends. I enjoyed Resident Evil 1 and 2 back in the day and thought this would be a good one to jump back into the series. I think playing this co-op is how you would get the most fun out of it. From what I have heard the ai of the Sheeva is a little off and you have to baby sit her a little to much. Anyway, I think we played it about a hour before my friend gave up in frustration. He was used to shooters like ...

While resident evil 5 is a great game is one of the best resident evil games i have played in a long time not saying it has some short comings.Like the AI of your partner sheva she is as dumb as a tree she just stands there and gets hurt by the enemies and then asks for ammo when she uses all of hers it is recommened to play coop when you can actually connect with a human player but most of the time you can't or that player won't grant you to play with them and that is another proble resident ev...

A new level of coop play 0

I found that playing this game online via Xbox live was the best way to play. I also had my friend over where we played split screen, and I still enjoyed the game, although losing half your screen makes the game lose a part of its wow factor in my opinion. These graphics are meant to be seen in full HD. Anyways, short review I know, but if your reading this Im sure youve already played it and beaten it. I can not wait for the next one to see where they take the coop gameplay from here. ...

    Resident Evil 5 Review ( Xbox 360) 0

GAMEPLAYRE5 stays true to the previous gameplay dynamic of over-the-shoulder shooter action, so well implemented by RE4. The games pace is flowing, the character control feels smooth, though personally I had to ramp up the aiming speed to fastest, just to get a bit more of an edge on the endless Majini. Converting from a Gamecube controller to a 360 controller was a bit interesting, and when playing the demo I initially had my doubts, but once getting hold of the game properly, found adjusting t...

    Resident Evil is back! 0

Resident Evil is back with its follow up to the acclaimed Resident Evil 4. Although the graphics have made significant leaps, most of the control scheme from Resident Evil 4 has returned. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it does make the game still feel like more of the same. The story is more of a follow up to Resident Evil 4 and the Resident Evil: Degeneration movie. It seems to encompass mostly content from those two titles while staying true to the roots of the older games as well. Y...

    Resident Evil 5 0

Resident Evil 5 is a game that is either hit or miss for most people, a lot of people claim the game's control scheme is "out-dated" or "too restricting", these are some valid points, but I think that the slower paced gameplay adds to the suspense and horror of the game. But, at the same time I believe that a control scheme shouldn't be one of the key elements of the game and there can be added suspense in different ways, while making the controls more fun and forgiving to use. I think Capcom de...

    Oh tentacles! 0

Okay so I just completed the new Resident Evil game (this one being the fifth in series for those living under boulders), so what was my overall general impression of the game? Dated.   I remember when the first game came out over a decade ago—it blew me away. The gameplay was sleek, the graphics ludicrously detailed (for its time anyway) and the story at least held my attention as a boy not yet in his teenage years. From then I played the subsequent games up until Nemesis; all of which I enjoye...

    Resident evil 5 Review 0

Resident evil 4 revolutionized the third person shooter genre, resident evil 5 may not live up to that expectation but it is a great game nonetheless. The story of the game starts with series vet Chris Redfield in Africa tracking down a bio terrorism deal going down. Things soon start to go wrong and you’re faced with fighting the villagers and locals of the region who are infected with the same virus as resident evil 4. Even though there’s been too many resident evils to count the story is easy ...

Yes it is true, yet again Capcom is able to produce mind blowing visuals and an experience that will simply keep you grasping your asscheeks in rabid anticipation throughout the entire experience of the game. The game takes place in a variety of different locations this time around, from jungles to deserts, to giant factories! There are also a good amount of events that take place during the main story that keep you entertained, such as driving through the desert on a humvee blasting pursuing di...

Resident Evil 5 Reinvigorates the phrase "Action/Adventure" 0

These days shooters are all about... well shooting. Resident Evil 5 has shooting, but it's not the main focus. You can tell a game is well made when it's hard for you to point out which part of the game has been more focused on than the other. That's the case with RE5.    It feels like a while since I've last played a decent adventure game and RE5 shoots some life into the genre. What helps the game play is things like having to manage your inventory, which adds a hint of micro-management. S...

Hands down the best sequel I have played! 0

Where should I start in this review? Since there are many topics about the gameplay, controversy, and blah blah blah, I'm just going to flat out say it. Resident Evil 5 is an excellent game in many ways. While its focus mainly is more of an action-oriented game instead of the survivial-horror game it still can provide the tension that you love from the franchise. The story now focuses on Chris Redfield and now has to investigate the virus that sends him all the way to Africa. In Africa he soon me...

I have never played Resident Evil 4, despite hearing all the fabulous reviews. I have however played many popular third person shooters, like Metal Gear Solid, Gears of War, and Rainbow Six Vegas, and this ranks the best out of them all. in my books. It mixes exciting action, with nail biting cut scenes, that keep you coming back and wanting more. Graphics: Best on this generationThe game uses the best lighting I've ever seen in a game, whether you're out in the baking African Sun, in a mine, on...

    Dawn of the Dead'ish 0

No series in video game history has stirred such mixed feeling as Capcom's Resident Evil (Biohazard for the folks in Japan). Since 1995 the good folks at Capcom have given us cheesey dialouge, hammy voice acting, and tons of memories fighting corporate monsters both human and other. The cheese factor aside Resident Evil has been oft loathed because of its "tank" control scheme which all changed in 2004 with RE4 for the GameCube and soon followed by Capcom's typical every videogame platform under...

Not dark and gory as the previous games, but still awesome. 0

Another installment of the wonderful series Resident Evil is finally upon us. Resident Evil 5 follows the formula of the previous game, Resident Evil 4, and creates another masterpiece. Resident Evil 4 showed unprecedented gameplay and controls never seen before in the franchise, and this revolution on the way Resident Evil is played seemed as the natural path for the series to take from that moment on.Resident Evil started off as survival horror, which means that you find yourself mostly alone ...

So I’ve been playing Resident Evil 5 lately as a break from Prototype.  I’ve heard all the hype about this game being a first person race war shooter.  White guys against black guys.  Unfortunately the people who review these games at first glance don’t usually remember or care about the back story.  The progenitor virus which was the Umbrella Corporations big breakthrough in regeneration of dead cells started as a discovery in the heart of Africa, where as it so happens most of the people livi...

(This review is originally from www.montyboggs.com)          After the critical success that “Resident Evil 4” was in 2005, people have been clamoring for Capcom to make the next game in the series. “Resident Evil 4” surprised fans by changing the direction of the series and third-person shooters in general with the brand new “over-the-shoulder” point of view. Four years have passed and Capcom has finally released the game’s follow-up, “Resident Evil 5.”     “Resident Evil 5” continues with...

Resident Evil 5 is of course the fifth game in the Resident Evil franchise. Now with the Umbrella Corporation in shambles, the experiments are popping up on the black market. Strange things are occurring in third world countries, and you are sent in to investigate. You will have a partner at your side to help combat the hostile locals, and the monsters that seem to come out of them.Graphically this game has its highs and lows. The scenery, though basically a run-down motif, looks amazing. The ch...

Resident Evil 4 is my all-time favorite game. I played it nonstop for about three years. Okay, it's a bit of an exaggeration, but I still love that game to death. So naturally I was looking foward to playing this. And I was not disappointed in the slightest. From the trailers I figured the game wouldn't be that scary, so I didn't expect it to be. But as an aciton game? That's where this game truly excels. The story won't win any awards, but it's passable, at least by Resident Evil standards. The ...

While not revolutionary, a refined, great series iteration. 0

With Resident Evil 4 serving as an introduction to the series for me, I was not drastically surprised when this next game turned out to be even more action based, relying less on its survival horror roots- after the critical success of RE4, one would immediately presume the sequel would expand more on the features that dragged the franchise into modern gaming. The way Resident Evil 5 does this in some senses makes it seem like a natural progression, but in others it tends to stay a little clos...

Games come and go so quickly in our beloved industry, with most being forgotten within months of their release, but when one really does make a mark it gets remembered. You only have to look at the history books for proof of this as Super Mario Bros. introduced gamers to platforming, Super Mario 64 then expanded on this creating the genre we know today; Goldeneye revolutionized first person shooters and Halo perfected the formula, still seen in games nowadays. Resident evil 4 was one su...

Like RE4, but less special. 0

First things first: if you played the demo for Resident Evil 5, don't trust it. That small part of the game is maybe the worst representative slice a game developer has ever seen fit to show. The demo made the game seem like nothing but a confined, slow shooter that was woefully behind the times. The truth is that Resident Evil 5 is just as great as RE4 was, if not nearly as revolutionary.    The story picks up the main Resident Evil storyline again, treating RE4 as more of a sidestory, making r...

You can't walk and shoot at the same time?? 0

The Japanese style of video games has never really connected with me, and for the longest time I have avoided the Resident Evil series. However the hype around RE5 had me believing that this game was more in the mold of US style action adventures like Gears of War.This game is still very much Japanese in style, and while the production values are strong, it is ridiculously frustrating that you cannot move and aim your gun at the same time. What is with that? I get that it was possibly some kind ...

People have laughed at me when I say "I play Resident Evil for the story" as they claim "There is non"  I understand their argument as few of the stories have any continuation from the former  games and little is revealed of the back story in each title.   So in RE5 they finally decided to tell use the BIG SECRET!   Wesker's big plan that had been played out throughout most of the other game titles. It was very disapointing. The mysterious Ozwell E. Spencer has a bigger part in this game than in...

Intro:Capcom has been reinventing survival-horror since the first  Resident Evil (1996) popularized the genre. Many gamers would even argue that the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team’s struggle at the Spencer Mansion was the birth of the genre. Over the last decade, the series has received six canonical sequels and several “spin-offs,” all of which enhance the world of Resident Evil, but are not technically accepted as part of the story. With each of the direct sequels came a deeper story and newer, more d...

Resident Evil 4 was my first play into the series. I've watched my bro beat the earlier games in the series, but I personally couldn't tolerate the controls prior to that game. Don't get me wrong though, I absolutely love the lore of this series from the very beginning. When I found out that Wesker was in RE5, I had to buy it. However it took me over a year to get through and finally beat the game. You may ask why I struggled with this game and yet still rate it so high. I'll try to make you und...

An intense, new yet familiar breed of horror 0

I could fault Capcom for the somewhat lukewarm release that followed (and still is in some respects) when Resident Evil 5 was released. The game was pulling away from its moodier environments, small ammo count and slow, shuffling zombies. In its place where high-octane action sequences, enough firepower to take on a military base and guys with tentacles for heads that more or less can make a break for you. Its trailers were lengthier and seemingly more easier to dissect (remember the identity of...

Resident Evil 5 is by far one of the worst in the series. That’s not to say it isn’t a good game. It just doesn’t feel like 1,2 or 3 at all. There is no feeling of being lost and hopeless in an apocalyptic zombie ridden city. I understand that since the good old days of PS One that gaming has greatly evolved but that’s not to say we should cast aside some awesome games as they might be a bit too complex or similar to their predecessors. This completion of the game was my 2nd and professional both...

    RE5: The Final Resolution? 0

I think one of the problems I had with this game was coming to terms with the fact that Resident Evil 5 is indeed the final installment of the current series (revamp pending). Everything was resolved so abruptly that those who have stuck with the RE franchise since its original conception on the PS1 will feel underwhelmed and slightly let down. The final encounter between Chris Redfield and Albert Wesker feels like something out of a Japanese action show; hero and villain converse, hero b...
