I mean, Claire Redfield seemed obvious enough, but wow... Guess if they're not going to bring back the Burtonator himself (who is also, like, 90 years old by this point anyway) then introducing his daughter is a cool new addition! Of course, Barry may still star in a supporting role within the game, likely in a bid to save his daughter or what have you.

Here are the copy/pasted highlights.

• Claire Redfield will return as the playable lead and it is said that “In the time since we last saw her(Claire), she’s grown to be a seasoned veteran.”
• Claire will be joined throughout the campaign with Moira Burton, daughter of the legendary Barry Burton.
• The campaign will be playable in co-op or singleplayer.
• When playing as Claire, her style will be more combat focused. Whereas Moira will be supplying Claire with health herbs, provided the flashlight and general support.
• Claire will be the only player death that will result in a Game Over, one of Moira’s key roles will be to help keep Claire alive (though Claire can obviously heal herself).
• The story will take place on an abandoned island detention facility.
• The campaign will begin with Claire and Moira awakening after being abducted.
• The events will take place between the events of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6.
• Gameplay will be much more Survival Horror orientated (much like the first Resident Evil: Revelations), bringing the series back to its roots with less over the top action, unlike Resident Evil 5and 6.
• Fan feedback has played a part in the development of Resident Evil: Revelations 2. Producer Okabe said that “The project has been finding the line between listening to fan feedback and also doing something different to confound expectations.”
• Okabe also said that “I want this to be both a game that doesn’t lose what made its predecessor great, while also bringing something new and exciting to the Resident Evil series.” He also added that “Achieving that lofty goal by bringing together past and future will make this an itchy-tasty prospect indeed.”
• Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will feature a new “Afflicted” enemy type, which “may look like zombies, but are in fact something quite different.”
• The Afflicted enemy will be both fast and able to deal heavy damage to the player. It is also said that they will force the player to decide whether to take them head-on, sneak up using stealth and applying a take-down or the player can run for the hills and “preserve ammo”.
• Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will run at 1080p and 60fps (for the PC and new gen versions at least).

This is all sounding pretty alright thus far! Interesting to hear that while it will still feature coop, it looks like Moira will play more of a support role than as a fellow gun-toting superhero.

Can't wait for Revelations 3 when you get to play as Jill's cousin and Wesker's dad.

@marokai: Yes... well, maybe. It's not outstanding, least I didn't think so, but it certainly puts the likes of Resident Evil 6 to shame. Plus it's refreshing to have a new Resident Evil game harken a little closer to ye olden times of Resident Evil, with more exploration and a few puzzles -- though there was actually far too few puzzles for my liking. Also, I would recommend the 3DS version over its HD ports, as it looks much better on a small 3DS screen than being blown up onto a TV/monitor, regardless of its HDification. Plus, its Raid mode is better balanced, the 3D actually works pretty well, and there's the odd bit of touchscreen interactivity that's rather neat, especially one that has you register your fingerprint.

So this is what they meant by talking about The Last Of Us. Moira will be playing the role of Ellie to Claire's Joel. This is going to be a very interesting game.

@yummylee: But... "Barry.... where's Barry?" seems appropriate. Ah well at least they are actually acknowledging the characters existence, hell Claire was getting that way too since CV where they set up the Redfield Revenge Rampage that never happened.

Yeah! YummyLee bringing the Resident Evil scoops! I'm so excited, that is so exciting . I love it, bringing back Claire, introducing a new character who still has ties to the old story, the co-op, fantastic. I am so damn happy right now.

@n7: The only time she was in the series before was in an image in Barry's epilogue in RE3, and I don't think she was mentioned by name.

Claire Redfield and Barry Burton's daughter teaming up sounds exactly like the Resident Evil game I want to play.

Some of those bulletpoints read a lot like a Code Veronica description.

I'm not sure about the co-op. Actually i'm pretty sure i don't want co-op. A single player game with some tag along with terrible AI is almost always terrible. TLoU dodged the bullet on that one by making Ellie essentially invisible to the enemies.

Also Barry sounds like a terrible dad if he didn't keep his daughter out of that whole mess!

In any case i haven't played the first one and have no desires to do so. I remain exceedingly excited for REmake HD however. I'll finally be able to play it.

That second to last bullet point seems fairly familiar... Almost like you could replace "The Afflicted" with "Clickers"

That all sounds great. Can't wait to get an actual trailer and everything. Also, I know it's probably a long shot, but I really wish they would say where Jill was post-RE5. That was one of the few things that I was bummed about in RE6, with the heavy presence of Chris and all.

Mhhm I'm really curious as to how the plan on making zombies different at this point. Resident Evil has done pretty much all variations of zombies/infected. The only game in recent memory to provide an interesting twist on Zombies was Last of Us, and they only managed to pull it off by making the outbreak mimic something from real life; aside from that though, it was still basically regular zombies.

Not that I think they'll pull it off, but I'm intrigued.

I'm willing to put down money that a 50-something Barry will in fact appear in here; a cameo role maybe at the end, if not a supporting role, where the game switches to his perspective as he tries to save his daughter. He'll hopefully at the very least show up in whatever minigame they have, be it an improved iteration of Raid mode or Mercenaries or whatever else.

The way they word makes it sound as if Moira will in fact be invincible much like Ellie, so I don't think it's going to be a case of babysitting a terridumb AI or anything like that in singleplayer.

I think there's a really strong chance he'll appear, given the concept teaser. The two characters that people thought were Barry and Rebecca I guess are actually Barry and Moira. You can tell it's her because she's wearing the same type of clothes as in the picture, and that dude looks just like Barry. Has the pants tucked into the boots and everything.

@quarters: Huh, wow, so she was right there the whole time! That's pretty neat, and the older gentleman certainly does bear a resemblance... kinda looks like my uncle. But then again Barry likely looks like everyone's uncle :P

Also, reading one of the image captions from the link implies that the game is going to be really dark (at least in spots) and you may have to rely on Moira's torch to basically aim for you, which sounds fantastic! Reminds me of the OG Doom 3 in fact when you had to decide between aiming your torch to see or shooting.

Oh, and the irony of the daughter of STARS' weapon specialist not being able to use guns is rather noticeable :P
