Resistance 2 is the perfect mix of single-player and multi-player
Resistance 2 is Resistance: Fall of man but improved in every aspect, and not only slightly but by large margins. Resistance 2 has almost as long of a single-player but is of a higher quality over all than fall of man. Multi-player now has co-op through the single-player and co-op online with 8 players and a completely new set of a few dozen missions not seen in the single-player itself. Competitive has been ratcheted up from 40 player online to 60. Most impressive of the games additions is that there is an RPG style leveling up system topping out at level 60. As you level up you unlock suits, armor and other superficial unlockables but in co-op the upgrades actually effect your damage, range and health while you unlock new weapons. Co-op is class based but competitive is straight forword FPS style. Every aspect is amazing from single-player to co-op and competitive. Thats a real joy to me after playing countless FPS games where say I play through the single of killzone 2 or halo 2/3 I felt disappointed, not only by it's length but by it's ending. And games like Fear 2 and similar games that have a satisfying single-player but the multi-player is lacking. Resistance has quality and quantity all over and in every aspect of the game. However the single-player is shorter by about 2 hours than fall of man, still longer by about 3 hours than most FPS games, the visuals, while great and has a huge scale and dozens and dozens of enemies and stays at a solid frame rate the visuals themselves can be rough at times. Resistance really excells in that it has everything and everything is satisfying. Competitive online also bests many other online FPS games in that you get experience by bullets hit on an enemy and you get a big bonus if you kill someone, but say they escape you still got experience for shooting them as much as you did, so you don't feel completely jipped. There are many modes, all are standard modes such as DM, TDM, CTF (but with a power core) Meltdown, which is control the node mode and skirmish which is most fun because randomnly generated missions will display and you execute faster or better than the opposing teams objective. It's mostly standard but it is all fun and all these modes feel quite fresh because you play them with up to 60 players, which really changes the tactics of how to approach all these played out modes. I really enjoyed resistance 2 from top to bottom and I think you will to if you go out and check it out.
